"Short form" URL in Signature

rob - 4-13-2008 at 09:52 AM

I have the URL of my personal weather station on Wunderground in my signature - it's a big ugly string.

I have discovered how to present a clickable short form of the string by the following HTML

<a href="http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=IBCSLAAG2">RANCHO AGUJA WEATHER</a>

This produces RANCHO AGUJA WEATHER

Mr problem is that my Settings window says "BB on" nad HTML is off. Can I switch on HTML for my signature entry window?

What is the problem with using regular html tags:

Aguaja

remove the blanks from the tag below

[url= http:// www
.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=IBCSLAAG2]Aguaja[/url

Rob, you have to take the extra spaces and breaks out of the BB code tags and the URL. We had to put them in there so that you could see the code instead of it turning into a link. Also there's an extra http:// so right now it looks like:

http://SPACEhttp://SPACEwwwBREAKwunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=IBCSLAAG2
I believed I've fixed this to the desired link.

I just checked back on the thread thinking all was well - thank you both for fixing the HTML.

Now if I can just get a webcam and get the humidity sensor fixed . . . next trip to San Diego.

BB code help! PUHLEEZE!

I have spent most of the day trying to post an avatar under my name (I'm just posting a picture of myself & wife). I have gone to the site imageshack.com to reduce the image size and come up with a link so that I may edit my profile. I have also posted the photo to google's PICASA2, and so far no luck.
You seem to be very knowledgeable in this process, so here is my link that I am trying to post from imageshack:
[URL=http://img111.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mexicobirthday2006091szqz8.gif][IMG]
http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/6505/mexicobirthday2006091szqz.th.gif[/IMG] [/URL]
I am typing everything in one continuous line, although the imageshack photo thumbnail in BBcode sows everything in three lines.

My picasa link is:
http://picasa.google.com/mexico, birthday 2006 091.jpg
What could I be doing wrong for the last 10 hours?
Thanks for your help!!

By the way, after this posting, I clicked on each of the blue links and I was unable to log into the photo I was trying to post. Therefore I think I am typing an incorrect link, however, PICASA and IMAGESHACK give me the string of characters to type in order to reach the photo.

AAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHH!

Hola Grover!

Hey, I tried copying the link exactly as you wrote it, and I still have no luck. Although I did get a board message that stated the image was too large. So somehow we are on the right track.
But...should not the link to IMAGESHACK have taken care of the image size problem (that is why we went to imageshack, wasn't it?)

Never mind, Grover...
I neglected to put the 3 just before the jpg.
