Hi everyone!
Haven't been to Baja in 2 years, and need a fix. I live in Chula Vista, and plan to meet friends from Arizona in Calexico-traveling together. I will
be towing a 17 foot travel trailer with my Tacoma. They will have an RV and toad, and the other couple will have a truck with large camper. In the
past, when I didn't have the trailer, we met at the Burger King in Calexico, crossing the border just down the street (Highway 11). I'm wondering if
it would be easier for all of us to try the east border crossing. From my research, it looks like the crossing is at the end of Highway 7 (Orchard
Rd.), with a Jack in the Box on the way where we can meet. I dread driving through Mexicali with a rig, but am ready to try. Which is the least
stressful way to go? We plan to start Mon. May 19 (we will meet around noon), and return that following Sunday. We hope to stay at Club de Pesca and
Nuevo Mazatlan.
Thanks-

Crossing at the Mexicali East portal will be much easier with RVs. After entry, turn right ( west ) on Blvd Garita and travel about 1.6 miles to
Calzada Manuel Gomez Morin. Turn left ( south ) and stay on that road until you intersect Mx 5 just past the Sony and Kenworth buildings.

If you haven't traveled in a while, you better check the tires on your travel trailer, if they're starting to rot (sidewall cracks) you'll have a
problem as soon as you hit the heat of the desert. Check the condition of your tires including your spare and if all possible still try to obtain a
"spare" spare.
Our beach home is located less than a mile north of Nuevo Mazatlan. When you get close to your trip dates give a shout on this post and maybe we'll be
down there as well.
Have a good trip.
Ditto on BajaRob's directions. Non-stressful path through Mexicali.
Hey Rob, see ya this coming weekend, thanks for getting the sealer for us.CortezBlue - 4-15-2008 at 08:27 PM
I agree with BajaRob. Also, you can stop at Costco for the Banos.
Where are you staying in San Felipe?? We are going down Friday morning.steekers - 4-15-2008 at 09:59 PM

Thanks everyone. Trailer had new tires put on last September prior to a 2 week trip through Colorado, Utah, and Arizona.
We like Club de Pesca RV park in San Felipe..Plan to spend a day or so before and after our stay at Nuevo Mazatlan.

When you have RVs you have
banos Thinking about it you probably mean to stop and use the RV banos instead
of putting on auto pilot!CortezBlue - 4-16-2008 at 04:26 PM
Gives a new meaning to hauling your crap with you??
