Can anybody tell me how the Canon de Guadalupe Campsite is doing since the fire? Have they rebuilt? How is it?
Has anybody been there since?Mango - 4-17-2008 at 02:34 PM
I drove up there a month or two after the fire and the palms were already starting to grow back.
David K did a write up/trip report post-fire a while back. I think he visited about a month after I did. Here is a link to his trip report that
includes photos and much info.
Hope it helps. Have a great trip and welcome to Baja Nomad!mrfatboy - 4-17-2008 at 06:13 PM
thanks for the info. The last post in that thread was 1-31-08. Has anybody gone down since and know anymore?

Thanks for posting the link Mango!
mrfatboy, if you still have questions after reading my trip report and all the other input... just ask!
I have a web page under construction for that trip... It is basically the same photos in the trip report, but not as many... I haven't added any
captions or travel details yet: http://community-2.webtv.net/boojum2/108mrfatboy - 4-17-2008 at 07:27 PM
We are going down in May. It will be our first time. I'm looking forward to it.
1) I know there are serveral choices but what is the best way down there for May?
2) Will the restaraunt and store be rebuilt by then? If not, I'm packing more stuff
3) How is La paloma as a campsite?

Unless it happens to rain sometime before your trip. But; thats pretty rare. Just a heads up..
There are several tracks, and often just jumping to the next one 50 yards over will make a big difference.Mango - 4-17-2008 at 11:10 PM

Where are you coming from?mrfatboy - 4-18-2008 at 06:36 AM
Thanks for the info.
I knew the "restaurant" was not a full blown restaurant but justed wanted to know if it was up and running again. How about the store? Is it
rebuilt?? I know they only sell the essentials, beer, TP, etc. Is that rebuilit and running?
We are coming from San Diego.
We will have 6 adults 2 small kids in our group (2 cars, 3 tents). Is La Paloma big enough? It seems nice on the website but I guess it shares the
same road with La Jolla A & B. Does it have any privacy?HotSchott - 4-18-2008 at 07:13 AM
FatBoy,
The restaurant and store are gone and will not be rebuilt by May or possibly next May. There is a refrigerator laying on it's side and a large block
of ice with just cold drinks for sale where the store used to be. They also sell firewood. Arturo, his sons Rigo and Victor will be there to assist
you.
With a group the size you mentioned you would be more comfortable in El Dorado, San Marcos, El Sol or El Castillo. All of the other camps are tight
with two cars and eight people will not fit in many of the hot tubs unless you are very friendly with each other - I'm sure it has been done. La
Paloma is much too small for two vehicles and eight people - my wife and I generally stay there alone.
