San felipe trip

OK- back to the San Felipe trip-
We will be staying for 6 days, and venture south as far as Nuevo Mazatlan. Can we do this without getting busted ? I know the law says no further than San Felipe without a visa, but is there a fudge factor? I prefer to remain law abiding, and will inform my travel buddies ahead of time so we can pick up visas at the east crossing.

You will be fine... no inspection in all of Baja Ca Norte for tourist cards... However, if you want to be fully 'covered', a tourist card for up to 7 days is FREE. There is even an INM office in San Felipe, on the left (north) side of the entrance road, just before the big traffic circle (unless that has changed).

Don't think they can issue tourist cards in San Felipe anymore unless you arrive by plane. Changed a year or so ago.

Interesting... then I guess it will need to be in Mexicali or where-ever the border is crossed... or at a Mexican consulate...

Thanks Lou!
