Beware of buying cheap abalone in cans

shari - 4-19-2008 at 05:48 PM

I heard about a funny scam today....a guy sold a second hand dealer 2 cans of abalone for $10 a piece....such a deal! When the buyer opened one...salivating over his yummy abalone dinner....he was pretty ****** off when he found it was a can of BEANS! so buyer beware...it's pretty easy to change the labels on cans!

We were just sitting around BS'ing with amigos here and someone had another story about the same scam artist...a local kid here who yes, had a drug problem....creative crime:wow: so this guy knows this particular fisherman is into porn and so he goes and sells him this XXX video....so the fishermen gets all set...relaxes in front of the tube and pops in the video....well, it's a WW2 movie...so he thinks....hmmm...OK, well, maybe the soldiers get into.....well, I wont repeat it on this family forum....so he watches like an hour of it before realizing he's not gonna see any skin in that flick....darn....one born every minute eh! The funny thing is the guy didn't even go after the kid. So yesterday the kid shows up at Kevins door(our friend/watchman) and shows him this beat up old metal helmet...says he found it near here and it's worth alot of money cause its an authentic german war helmet!!!! He went to several people's houses but hear he hasn't sold it yet...anyone interested:biggrin: the moral of this story is that seeeeeee it isn't just gringos that get ripped off!

I think that kid and his helmet need to see the inside of the carcel.

A tweeker is a tweeker...

The running joke that I think says it all:

Do you know what the difference is between a tweeker and a junkie? They will both rip you off, but a tweeker will come back an hour later and offer to help you find your stuff.

There really isn't anything funny about meth, but man there are a lot of tweekers that believe their own BS.

Buyer beware, rarely do you get something for nothing, even in Mexico...

I don't know, Shari. That one may be the authentic Hells Angels model. You can usually tell by the hole in the side which they use to bolt the pot to their head so it doesn't blow off in the wind.
Anyway, I'll give it a few taps on the snare, just for you.

Oso - 4-22-2008 at 06:22 PM

Not to insert any seriousness here, but the hole was for the insertion of pegs on a thick steel curved plate that was designed to stop direct hits. I'm not sure how effective that ever was, probably most troops ignored it for the discomfort. any WWII history buffs here could maybe expand.

thanks for the link Hose A...so ummm....if a fake goes for $200 hey maybe the real thing is worth something????? It sure LOOKS like a german WW11 helmet eh! Come on you buffs...lets hear from you....
