Mexican citizens need a fishing license unless fishing from shore. I don't know of any other exceptions.

You also don't need a license if you're a snaeky, sleezy cheat.

but that's ok, we all have to be something.

Don you are 100% correct. Everyone must have a fishing license if fishing from a boat.

Close. To sport fish, everyone needs a sport fishing license. When the Governor's Cup Tournaments come to town, all the commercial fishermen, who do not have licenses, have to buy a temporary license to sport fish in the tournament. Now if your FM2 allowed you to be a commercial fisherman, (which I find hard to believe that you would have commercial fishing allowed), then when you went sportfishing you would need to have a sportfishing license.

Judy, the license issue is up in the air for sure. All our local resorts lack any kind of fishing license evidence for their clients or their boats. Mexico is still out of licenses, the travel clubs in the U.S. are still selling them because they bought them in bulk long ago. Same with some of the U.S. tackle shops. Fishing down here now without a license would be like running red lights and speeding in the U.S. because you know the cops don't have ticket books.
