Where & how do you get your fm3 stamped crossing at Tecate.
What time do they open.
We are crossing sunday morning.Any problems we should be aware of.
Thanks in advance for your help

Let me bump this to the top. I've never heard of anyone attending to FM3 details at Tecate but, wait for a more qualified answer.
I assume you're inquiring about entry into Mexico?

At the immigration office, which is in the building, on the right, at the border station as you cross into Mexico.

I dunno about getting stamped coming in, but I have tried to get it stamped going out, went to the migracion office there at the border and got only blank stares and nada...bored official declined to stamp it, said I didn't need that. try Guerro Negro if you hit there in daylight hours???

Smoke.....is this a "new" FM-3 and your first time entry with it???

We got exit stamps in December from Tecate. The officials were not attentive, but we insisted.

When the FM-3 booklet was issued at the Mexican Consulate in San Diego, and when we had the FM-3 renewed, we were told that the FM-3 was a multiple entry document and did not need to be stamped at every land entry and exit.

It's been several years, but this is where we entered Baja when we moved to Ensenada. Had heard horror stories about bringing our household goods across at Otay so opted for Tecate. Took all day but we got the job done there. Probably the easiest part of all was getting our FM3's stamped. Don't remember where it was in all the mess of offices at secondary. They kept telling us we needed to return to San Diego for more paperwork for our big old truck. We kept asking them if we could leave our stuff there and come back. For some reason, that's what got us through. They made up their own list, took our money (way more than it should have been I'm sure) and we were on our way.

Our FM3 are nearly a year old and therefore up for renewal soon.
we have traveled by air and been stamped in and out several times. We have also had it stamped once exiting baja @ TJ.
We are entering this time.

Smoke,

Is there a particular reason you want to get it stamped? It really is not neccesary just for entry.

bajabound2005 - 4-28-2008 at 07:25 AM

Ours was stamped upon our first entry with it. Hasn't been stamped going in or out since.

I flew out of Cancun this past fall and ran into a snag with migration at the airport....wanted to know why the FM3 had not had any stamps (proof of coming going in and out of Mexico) I told them I came from Baja and crossing the border there, stamping was never mentioned. They kind of just shook their heads and said, no wonder.

so I says ???????????????????????

Typical..................one set of national rules, many local ideas of interpertation!!!!!!

Smoke - 4-28-2008 at 08:36 PM

well I talked to the office in LB that helped us obtain our FM 3 and they said we should get them stamped in case we are stopped for any reason.

Getting our FM3's stamped at Tecate was a one-time thing that occurred simply because that was when we actually moved with our stuff. Never again did we show them nor were we asked for them. In fact, when we were up for renewal in Ensenada we wanted to go back to Tecate because they were so much easier to deal with than Migracion in Ensenada!!
