It's Achiote, from the Yucatan, it starts out as a seed, then ground into a paste or brick, you take a small amout (maybe 1/4 cup) and mix with
orange juice. it is used as a marinade for meat dishes... it is not hot like chili...

Everyone uses Achiote here so it's in most all the stores in a small box...it is the preferred marinade for BBQ chicken...very yummy
