He is however the Son of a "Mexican Industrialist" and the majority, if not all, of the kidnappings for ransom have fit that MO.

Sunday. You can listen by going to their site. They should have it up soon.

There's an Ave. H and Ave. Herreros in Mexicali and they intersect. Somebody probably did a Babelfish translation of a Spanish language story.

Here are a couple of articles from La Cronica that make reference to the kidnapping. These are from Yahoo's noticias search. It's possible that the
family has asked the media not to report many details. It's not just industrialists that are being kidnapped. Small business people, especially one'
that deal in cash, are vulnerable. I hope you can read these along with comments by readers. Most kidnapping don't make the news. The families dea
with it discretely.
And yes, it appers to have taken place in Mexicali.

También ayer fue ejecutado un empresario de la industria pesquera, antes de bajar de su vehículo, cuando llegaba a sus oficinas en el Municipio de
Ensenada.
“Estamos preocupados por el alto índice de delitos del crimen organizado que se registran en Baja California”, expresó González Jiménez.
La ola de “levantones” a empresarios registrados en las últimas semanas ha provocado que más comerciantes mexicalenses acudan a solicitar información
acerca del Programa Integral de Protección a Empresarios (PIPE), dijo Javier Aguilar Castillo.
El coordinador del programa que realiza la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública mencionó que aunque no puede revelar por motivos de seguridad el dato de
cuantos empresarios tienen escolta, en los últimos días la solicitud ha aumentado.
El pasado 12 de abril un comando de personas armadas se llevó de manera violenta al propietario de la Carnicería Super Chivas, Jorge Cervantes López,
de 34 años.
El 28 de abril el empresario mexicalense Ricardo Malo Valadez, de 38 años, fue sometido de manera violenta cuando arribaba a un domicilio en la
colonia Industrial y no ha aparecido.
Respecto al programa mencionó que continúa vigente y los interesados en tenerlo solamente deben presentar la solicitud a la Secretaría de Seguridad
para iniciar con la evaluación de la persona que presentarán.
El PIPE es un programa en donde los empresarios proponen a una persona para ser capacitada como escolta de seguridad, ellos son sometidos a
evaluaciones y pasan a través de programas que otorga la Policía Estatal Preventiva.
A los aspirantes se les realizan evaluaciones y se revisa que no cuenten con antecedentes ni en México, ni en el extranjero, así como los exámenes de
confianza que también se aplican a los policías.
El costo de la preparación para los escoltas es de quince mil pesos, dinero que se invierte constantemente en este programa.
Aguilar Castillo mencionó que este programa está abierto para todos los empresarios que deseen pedir información para contar con personal de
seguridad.
Requisitos para capacitar a un escolta
Presentar una carta a la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública
Acreditar al aspirante
Presentar una serie de exámenes tanto de confianza como físicos, sicológicos y de conocimientos
Pagar 15 mil pesos por la capacitación

The head of the band of kidnappers who took the two Mexicali businessmen was identified as Cristian Castro Reyes, 28, who was a police officer in
Tijuana, who was fired in August 2007.
