Any advantage time wise when crossing at tecate to backtrack to the new 4 lane highway from Rosarito to Otay? (I don't like the winding, single lane
wine country road...) Is there a convient road available to actually do this? Thanks! M

I find it easier to cross at Otay and then take the new Blvd 2000 to Popotla/Rosarito. I jump on the toll road at Puerto Nuevo and head to Ensenada.
Northbound, I reverse the procedure. Four lane most of the way and if you know the route, you can avoid the construction mess on Industrial Blvd.
I have taken the Tecate route several times and don't think there is any time advantage with the road from SD to Tecate and then the two lane from
Tecate to Ensenada, although it is a very scenic drive.

Marv, I think the Blvd. 2000 route to get to Ensenada from Tecate & Hwy. 2-D would be faster and except for some old free road near Puerto Nuevo,
all 4 lane highway. We came home from the Pyramid Resort that way after the booksigning.... Northbound, the Tecate detour for sure... But southbound,
I thing I would agree with bajaguy... If the construction doesn't screw it up too much.
What's with the delay in finsishing the access to Blvd. 2000 from Hwy. 1-D anyway??? Over a year and no progress.

If you are southbound from the border crossing, you will drive over an overcrossing before you get to Industrial Blvd where you will normally turn
left (east) to the Blvd 2000. The street under this overcrossing is Bella Artes. You need to get on Bella Artes. Do a loop or several right turns to
get eastbound on Bella Artes, and head east about 1/2 a mile to a major signal controlled intersection, then head south again for about 3 blocks. This
should put you just east of the construction on Industrial Blvd. Proceed eastbound on Industrial to Blvd 2000.
If you are headed north to the border crossing from Blvd 2000, and are westbound on Industrial Blvd, turn right at the construction detour (as
indicated at Industrial Blvd) and proceed straight about 3 blocks to Bella Artes, then turn left. Take either the SENTRI lane just before the car wash
to the border crossing, or drive just past the car wash and take the first right, which appears to be an on ramp. This will put you just north of the
overcrossing of Bella Artes into the regular lanes for the border.
Sounds complicated, but is actually simple when you are on the ground.

Ey, Marv!
If you just reverse the route that bajaguy stated in his instructions, you can get from the four-lane to the OTAY crossing.
HOWEVER
If you want to travel north on the new four lane (from Fox studios), and then you make a right to head to Tecate (free road), you would save about 1+
hours in time. Yes, you will drive about 15 miles out of the way to cross the border, (at Tecate) but you miss all the construction mess of BLVD 2000
(which is an extra 1/2 hour), and your border wait will be less than 15 minutes. In my previous trials I gained almost two hours. Plus the bonus is
that you can easily get to restaurants on the way to the border, and small city traffic is minimal.
In my opinion, and since I have to travel North on the 15 anyway to head to Riverside, the drive through Dulzura is not out of the way for
me. It's a relaxing country drive.
By the way, I don't think BLVD 2000 will be finished this year. If the road taffic was blocked off, they would have the road finished in two months.
But if you saw how they were shoring the sidewalls next to the highway...I'm glad I won't be one of the first to use that new road when it is
finished!

I will be going to Tijuana next week and don't usually drive downtown, I need to know where after you cross the border into Mexico do you get on the
Paseo de heroes Zona Rio.The ofecina is right across Plaza Rio.I usually stay on the right hand side going to Rosarito.Any help will be appreciated.
It will be on a Wed morning and i am hoping not too much traffic.

I have found a good map of the Ensenada area for sale on the counters of various AM-PM/PEMEX stations in Ensenada. I have also seen the same type of
map for TJ at the AM-PM/PEMEX stations in Rosarito.
