Pemex stations in Mexicali

Selkie - 5-13-2008 at 07:22 AM

Hello nomads!
Looking forward to our trip to San Felipe next week. We have 4 rigs heading down, and will be crossing at the east entry. We plan to drive down Calzada Gomez Morin to the San Felipe highway. Are there any Pemex stations along this route? Do any of these stations sell ultra low sulfur diesel? Due to cheaper gas prices we would like to top off our tanks prior to heading down. Thanks,
Gail

Prices are now the same in Mexicali

There are several stations along your route on the right side.
I usually fill at the one just south of the the overpass (toll road)
I am not sure about the diesel, they are "supposed' to be changing over . My '06 dodge runs fine on the stuff. If you fill in Calexico , expect to pay $4.50 /diesel . It's about $2.10 in mexicali for diesel.

Fill up in the states before crossing and then when you need fuel again you will be far enough south to get the good prices.

Pemex stations near the border sell diesel at the same low price as all over Baja. Only the gasoline has a higher price. And there are a couple stations on Hghy 5 on the southern edge of Mexicali where you can get the cheaper diesel. And we've been told ALL of the diesel is of the ultra low sulfur type.

Pemex in Puertecitos ?

How are things going there ?

A friend of mine coming North from Gonzaga drove by there on Saturday and he said the gates were closed, but there was a guy sitting on a chair out front. Since he had enough Diesel to make San Felipe, he didn't stop.

Lou, I think the prices are now the same --

Especially since our U.S.prices are now even higher than Mexico--But at my advanced age , my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. The last time I looked they were the same as San Felipe .

Bill, the Pemex was closed when I arrived yesterday, and Clara isn't here to ask. I will bet that they ran out ?????
They don't have diesel here in PRC to sell ???

Bob, I haven't checked out the prices in Mexicali on gasoline in a while, but the last time I was up there, the Taxis still had signs complaining about the gas prices. The station in La Puerta charges a few centavos more than the ones in San Felipe. ???

The last arguement I had with Leon

before he died was while he was having dinner at my house, he made one of his famous pronouncements , that gas would never be $4.00 a gallon (in the U.S.) and that it was selling for more in Mexicali (along the border) than in the interior. I made it a point to check and that was in March. I checked both stations where I stop, the one on the way South and the one past the Sony plant on the way North--both, I think were the same as San Felipe.

Leon died? The one across the street from you in Clara's compound?

6.82 peso per liter today in San Felipe - will check Thurs when I'm near the border and let you know. (regular)

In Yuma today - gasoline - Regular - at Ej. Durango on BC4 was 6.94 per liter, and at Los Algodones it is 7.51 per liter. - figures to about $2.46 in SF (at 10.50 exchange) and $2.70 in Los Algodones - Higher but still way below US prices.
