Mexico Mace?

CortezBlue - 5-14-2008 at 10:09 PM

I was at Home Depot the other day and was getting ant killer when I came across a clearence table. I found a large can of Wasp/Hornet spray for 1.50 a can. I bought two cans one for the car and one at the Casa.

Has anyone else used this for emergency situations?

Haven't had the pleasure although they say it works well. I've used it on a hornets nest under construction and it has distance. I was hitting the target from fifteen feet away.

we use it ALL the time in the garage
the ceiling is 14 feet high and very hard to reach

the wasps are starting to come back now...
susan can hit an insect from 12 feet away:lol:

as for people...it doesn't work
it just makes them madder:lol:

carry the machete:lol:

Green Laser

For the two legged insects, I prefer a green laser:

small, longer range, no chemical odor.........
but never, never point it at anyone's face or eyes!!!!!

Follow the initial spray with another squirt using a lighter yields good results....

why not carry mace &/or pepper spray in case?

can't have a gun sooooo, a flare gun is needed for your boat isn't it? Got to get to the boat by car, sooooooooooooo.....

Capt George: if I recall this issue went around the board a bunch a few years ago with a lot of folks reporting different results from various officials (duh). Just wondering if anyone recently has had one discovered during a check point and what, if anything, happened?

A pistola is a pistola?

After mulling this issue over I chose a really nice hand held signal flare set that does exactly the same thing. So it's "oh those, road flares in case I have a auto problem". West Marine or online.

I carry mace on bike rides. Never even come close to using it. Once at the check point at El Tomatal going north, my inspector found it and test sprayed my trailor tire, then put it back. He then requested I leave behind my mega-pack of AAA batteries though. Since I was never really sure of how they feel about mace in mexico, I was ok with the exchange.

Soooo, that was tongue in cheek???

Or if you are suggesting this as being dangerous to humans, why wouldn't it be a good choice for stealth personal protection?

Gadget.....the above is the tongue in cheek.....

I would not hesitate to use it if necessary. It looks like, and fits in your pocket like a pen. Has extreme range and you can see the green laser beam as opposed to a red beam.
