Looking for good auto mechanic - La Paz

Our piece of crap Chevy Blazer is acting up again. Can you say "LEMON"? I'm considering a long drive on a short pier.

We bought it to keep here in La Paz thinking it would be easy to get repaired. (Lots of them running around town.) The problem is that it was a CA car and has all the computer junk on it and everyone we've talked to so far can change the oil for us but shy away from any repairs involving the engine.

The latest problem is the engine missing. We left it parked for a few days. Was running fine when parked. When started again, the missing problem. Runs very rough at idle but not stalling (yet!) 'Service Engine Soon' light comes on a few minutes after starting.

Buy yourself an OBD II reader. It will pay for itself and will tell you what's up. Then, you can proceed to a recommended mechanic, informed. Or, if it something easy, you can DIY.

Error code P0301 - misfire on cylinder 1. Comitan showed up at our door the other morning with his reader.

Thanks to all for the recommendations.

Comitan! What a guy! Saludos!

He was a great help to us when we visited your lovely town. Great Nomad! You are lucky to have him as a neighbor.
