Canon De Guadalupe Temps

mrfatboy - 5-16-2008 at 10:15 AM

I see it's going to be very hot in Tecate for the next couple of days. Can anybody tell me what the relative temperatures would be for Canon De Guadalupe?

Cooler or Warmer and by how much?

thanks

The canyon is in the desert... which is hotter than the coastal foothills where Tecate is... a lot hotter.

Check the temperature for El Centro, CA to get an approximation. It will be a bit cooler in the canyon, at just over 1,000 feet ASL.

thanks. It's going to be toasty! Do they sell ice there by any chance? I heard the store burned down but not sure if they built anything back up.

Also, are the little camp ground spas always hot? I know they are fed by the hot springs but just curios. Soaking in a 104 degree tub won't be that relax in that heat :)

The water is hot 24/7, naturally... How to make the tub cool (er) and refreshing in the summer is to 'spritz' the water by spraying it up or over the water so the air removes some of the heat... A trick showed to us by 'Hotschott'... and it works great.

Do not expect anything for sale since the fire, but it is possible that cold beer will be sold to help make money... A big box filled with ice is how they cool the beer.

BRING ALL YOUR OWN NEEDS (including an ice chest full of ice) and enjoy a quiet time there.

Which camp site did you reserve... or did you?

Take a look at the last three Guadalupe Canyon trip pages I made to see how things look:

thanks for the info. I read that "spritz" trick before. Good idea. We rented the San Marcos campsite. I guess we will be packing alot of hielo :)
