Canadian tourist gunned down in Mexico: report

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico - A Canadian tourist was shot dead at a Mexican hotel this week, several media outlets are reporting.
Bouabal Bounthavorn, 29, was shot three times in the head inside his hotel room in the city of Cabo San Lucas, police told the Associated Press.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade confirmed that a Canadian had died.
"We're aware of the death of a Canadian citizen in Cabo San Lucas," department spokeswoman Marie-Christine Lilkoff told Canwest News Service.
"Consular assistance is being provided to the family and consular staff are in touch with local authorities, who are conducting an investigation into
the circumstances of the death."
The spokeswoman would not confirm the name, age or hometown of the victim, citing privacy concerns.
However, state police commander Enrique Wuilar told the Associated Press that a lone gunman had shot Bounthavorn, who was staying with his girlfriend
at the Hotel Riu.
The man's girlfriend, 24-year-old Masha Heikali, was shot in one foot, the report said.
There have been no arrests and police reportedly have no leads in the killing.
