Palapas - always a welcome sight... Shade and who know what else they might provide. This was an un-posed spontaneous shot of my brother passing
three empty palapas on our way sea kayaking to the Delta last spring. Just north of San Felipe...

Great ocean-going kayak photo, Greg. Looks like you and your partners can spend a few days on the water with all that storage!Osprey - 5-27-2008 at 09:01 AM
Greg, picky, twitchy people would call those ramadas. They would be right.Ken Bondy - 5-27-2008 at 09:03 AM
That is a fantastic photo Greg. That image should be a Baja icon. Great composition, color, subject matter. Bravo!

One of the best photos of Baja I have seen. Great shot! Thanks!!Skipjack Joe - 5-27-2008 at 06:52 PM
Nice long horizontal patterns support the sense of peace that the paddler emanates.
Good one, Greg!Paulina - 5-27-2008 at 08:31 PM
Ditto everything above. Great photo!

i think its a palapa
everything on the beach down here...
with that type of roof is called a palapa...
a ramada is more "bandstand-like"

That could be the kayaking magazine photo of the year. Perfect.
I think its Ramada. Well, maybe not. I'll ask The Ramada Inn hotel/motel chain. They wouldn't spend billions, then mis-name their endeavor.gringorio - 5-28-2008 at 07:09 AM
Thanks everyone! The more I look at it the more I like it too. Since we didn't get to do our spring trip this year I've been living Baja through
last years trip photos...
Udo - if you every get the chance to do a multi-day trip, it's well worth it! I understand that there are outfitters in both Loreto and La Paz who
take care of all the details and all you have to do is enjoy the padlle...

Bob and Susan,
I think they call that a gazebo here in the states.
I've alway liked that word: gah-zee-boh.
Time for my morning coffee.Bob and Susan - 5-28-2008 at 10:42 AM
