Anyone been to Hotel Punta Colorada in the East Cape? I want to take a trip down south next month and was wondering if anyone can give me some advice since this will be my first time to the East Cape.

What kind of advice are you wanting ??
The place has everything for fishing and the pool and beach for the non-fisherpersons.

What airlines travel down there?
How is the shore fishing?
How is the food that is included in their package?

Alaska Air is probably your best bet to Cabo.
Shore fishing can be good, especially at sunrisish.
The food is pretty good to very good - all fish or mexican faire.
Definitely not the cheapest way to vacation Baja but nice if that's what you want.

A few years back 4 of us took advantage of the "package deal" there, 2 different times----at the time if was $550 per person for 5 days total, 3 days of fishing on a good size cabin cruizer, and all the food you could eat (and it was great), plus round trip from LA via Alaska Airlines to Cabo, and picked up by a van and transported both ways--------SUCH A DEAL. I had several long conversations with Bobby Van Warmer (sp?) at the bar (the owner, and a legend). The accomodations were totally adaquate, and we had a wonderful time.

it happens to be on my very short list of fav places to go-stay all of baja, and i don't even fish there! they recently reopened the adjacent landing strip too.

pay one $$ and all meals come with - 3 square a day at the common mess - all you can eat each one like at a dude ranch - yeah, a dude ranch for sport fishermen!, they have remained competitive too. the only thing you have to spring for is bar and we always set ours up in the room and on the patio so saved there too. Bobby let us use the family's private home's pool one trip that was before the resort pool was done by the condo casitas.

it's remote so if you want stores other bars and restaurants go to Los Barriles - ain't none o that close to PC except you can pay $$ for a van ride to La Riberia.

man..........wish i was headed there today, WX is perfect now.

It is beautiful here now!
If you dont want to be so isolated, Palma de Cortez and Playa del Sol are both owned by the same family and are close to shopping and restaurants. No matter how good the food is you will want to eat some place else after a few days.....trust me!

I've stayed there several times. Fishing can be excellent, food is OK, accommodations are great, staff is terrific.

Hey!

It is now his youngest son, Eddie, who reigns here now......Bobby and Cha Cha now oversea all of the rest of the kingdom.............And what a place....When I wrote about Las Barriles I was asked not to speak to this true legend of Baja...talked to him about 'ghosting' his history.....and what a history...didn't work out...But a real humble giants among the giants and legends of Baja.

Simply, Bobby

I took the road to Punta Colorada a few years ago just to check it out once. It was the off-season and no one was staying there, but there were people doing work around the place. They let me check it out and roam around and I've always wanted to return, but haven't. Rooms were okay, location beautiful. Surf fishing looked like it would be good, and have heard it's a great place to take a panga out for fishing during the fishing months.
