I was thinking of sailing my 25' sailboat (ocean capable) down to Cabo from San Diego in October. Does anyone have any sailing experience and might be
interested in joining me? Two stops..Turtle Bay and Mag Bay. Once in Cabo, you could return to where ever by plane or bus.....or continue with me to
La Paz. From there I plan on heading for the mainland solo....
Curious....

It would probably be a good idea to wait till Nov 15, the end of the hurricane season. What brand of boat do you sail? A good source of fellow sailers
is the sailing mag Lattitude 38 available at boating areas for free. They do a Baja Ha Ha every year to get potential Baja travelers together, and a
bunch of boats make the Baja run after Nov 15.

Oct. can be dangerous for Hurricanes in the south. I have made that trip many times in a sailboat and it is a fun trip if you know what you are doing.
have you thought about the trip back to the north?

why don't you just hook up with the Baja HaHa, loads of company and crewlists/parties to find people for the boat.

I made this trip in my boat 2 years ago with the HA HA. I have to tell you that I generally avoid rallys of any kind, but got talked into this one.
To tell the truth it was so much fun. I had a good crew (total of 4) and it was just a good time. I would do it again if the opportunity arises.
Contact Latitude 38 for information about this years HA HA. They leave at the end of October and take around 10 days for the trip to Cabo with stops
for parties at Turtle Bay and Bahia Santa Maria (outside Mag Bay). They have constant weather updates over both VHF and SSB. I think you will enjoy
yourself.

Actually I've sent for the entry packet already for the Ha-Ha this year.
And placed my need of a crew member on their Crew Wanted List. Just thought I'd see if anyone here was adventurous. Believe they leave very late Oct.
this year.
As far as getting back... don't plan on it right now..... wife will truck my trailer down to PV where I'll meet up with her so we can store it there
or at our lot in Punta de Mita. I wouldn't like to do the Baja Bash, period.
If I can't locate a crew, then I may go to Guaymas, San Carlos and launch her there along with two other fellows I know of that are planning that trip
this October.
Actually, I was all set to go with my fiend on his Hunter-376 in 2004 but right before we got to the starting line, his engine quit on us. Finally
made it back to an end tie on Harbor Island and sat there all week during the heaviest rains they had had in 80 years while we tried to get someone to
polish the fuel. Ended up sailing his boat back to Dana Pt. where he kept it. Had a bunch of other issues that came up on that return trip... That was
a nightmare all around.....It was actually a good thing we never even got started....
