The RDC web site crashed bad about 5:00 pm, which also had the Weatherman live feed. Forums and all other pages were inaccessible as of that time.
(edit: evidently not for everybody- lots of posts in the forums section during the time period others had no access....??)
As of 9:00 pm PST, RDC is still down; the IRC tracking web site is up with the flash version, but the satellite version is giving errors; no
Weatherman feed on RDC, no Weatherman feed on IPC either.
Dirt Newz has a very sketchy text only update:
Unofficial Finishers as they cross the line:
#1X Robby Bell/Kendal Norman/Johnny Campbell OVERALL BIKE
#8X Ryan Penhall/Brent Harden/Mike Childress
#1 Post/MacCachren
#97 BJ Baldwin TROPHY TRUCK WIN
#12 Collins/Hovey
#8 Norman/Roeseler
#109 Luis Ramirez Jr. FIRST CLASS ONE
#39 Whitton/Leduc - Todd Leduc finished the race
#123 Dale Ebberts/Brad Etter
#108 Armin Schwarz/Martin Christensen
#120 Brian Parkhouse/Tom Ridings#35 Robbie Pierce
Here's my observations and info from RDC and Weatherman, and the IRC satellite tracking site, when they were working, as well as cell phone
conversations with a few of the moto racers:
#1 TT driven by Post crossed the finish line ahead of #97 B J Baldwin, but 97 had a better elapsed time by just 7 seconds! It was a tight one.
Some great TT dueling heading into Erendira, but # 71 and 22 both died there after a back and forth duel in the foothills to the east between those
two and another TT. The three of them were passing each other back and forth at one point.
Class 22 motos had a great duel between 1x Robby Bell and the 8x bike of Ryan Penhall, until the rider on 8x broke his arm around Ojos Negros. Rumor
from Weatherman was he was hit by a truck crossing highway 3, but as of yet that's unconfirmed. He stopped for some time, during which 1x passed him
again. 8x continued on to the finish, broken arm and all.
Seemed like a lot of injuries in the moto classes in this race, from broken coller bones to broken arms and legs.
Some of the big guys in the TT's never made it past rm 130: Robby Gordon, Pete Sohren, Jesse James and Garron Cadiente had breakdowns. Rumour on
Sohren is that he went off the couse and over a small cliff.
A few of the other TT's were having recurring breakdowns but were plugging away towards Ensenada last time I checked. Still lots of other vehicles on
the course as of 9:00 pm tonight.
And finally, a really weird report to Weatherman sometime around 4 pm requesting a relay to one of the helicopters about to make a landing at Valle de
la Trinidad: "the helo fuel has been sabotaged"; it was repeated several times, but I never heard a follow up on it.....??

Update: RDC and Weatherman are finally back up.

RDC web site outage during Baja 500....
Photog - 6-2-2008 at 09:54 AM
F.Y.I.:
Klaus, the owner of the RDC web site, posted this yesterday to the RDC forum board in regards to the downed server during the Baja 500 race. The DNS
server changes are the reason some people had a brief period of no access and others, like me, had a very lengthy period of no access.

Ok here is the deal.
Dezertrangers.com and rdc are both hosted by the same provider on different servers.
Our provider experienced a catastrophic outage today that effected lots of webservers. (Explosion of transformer leading into a fire)
Both Jeremy of Dezertrangers and us picked grade A providers and this outage is abnormal and unexpected.
DR server is up.
RDC server is up.
However in the case of RDC our DNS server also hosted by the same provider is OUT. I made DNS changes for us and it will slowly propagate to the end
user (depending on your provider).
We will rebroadcast the entire Baja 500 audio stream for those that miss it due to the outages.
