Guerrero Negro -- RV parks?

Two weeks ago on the way back to the US we pulled in to the Malarrimo RV park for the night as we have done on occasion in the past. This visit the price had increased $18.00 a night which of course included full hook ups, which we didn't need, but used.

We were aware that there are a number of RV parks just north of GN before and after the check point but had no information on them and didn't at that time feel compelled to try them.

Have others on this board have any information on alternate RV parks in that area? Location? Name? Services? Price? -- Recommend ? Not Recommend?

It was also noted that some have a bar/ restaurant/ night club associated with the RV parking. Is this a problem? Noise? Traffic? Security? Lights?

Kadekaman(sp?) right at the 'Y"..on the highway in Vizcaino is lovely...I don't know their prices but the grounds are very nice and it has a wonderful restaurant, wifi, stores close by as well as taco, birria stands etc. Also Mario's, the big palapa close to the parallel has RV parking...don't worry about noise from the bar/disco as it's very rarely open...the palapa is very impressive.

I don't recall the name but I stopped at the one just north of town with the big restaurant in front. They have full service for $12 in a field with flat stone roads and pads. Not real picturesque itself but nice views of the hills.
The restaurant is a bit pricey and only serves full meals - no ordering 2 fish tacos a la carte.

I was accosted by 7 Oregonians on their way south with a list of questions that lasted through dinner and beyond. Nice group of folks and I hope they didn't really look for the land bridge over Bahia Concepcion that I told them to look for ! :lol:

I think the one I stayed at is the second one that Shari mentions; the palapa restaurant IS very impressive.
They also had a bus for whale tours.

If you don't require hook-ups, don't mind a really good dirt road and love the quiet, camp at Ojo de Liebre---it is just a beautiful place to camp.

Even if the whales are not in town, there are lots of birds, extra stars, and quiet.

Yes, Ojo de Liebre is also our favorite if we have the time, even if we don't see whales. Very nice, fairly secluded camping on the beach !!
If I recall, it's about a 20 minute drive into the lagoon from the highway.

We checked that operation out perhaps about 10 years ago. It must have changed in that time frame..will stop by the next trip south for a quick look see and perhaps an overnight stay.

Have been trying to visit your place for years...maybe next time..sdm

Totally agree! Have stopped there amd camped many many times. On several occasions turned north and camped at the very end of the road. total peace and tranquility with not a sound but the ocean, birds and whales

It can also be bitterly cold! One particular trip I thought I was in Alaska --but with out snow. That was one cold place!

Well Dean, the road paving project will be done in August which will make it much easier on your rig. We are in the process of putting in some beachfront and treed RV sites here that will also have Wifi access,..$10 a night no hookups...$15 for the full monty. You can nearly cast out from your camper for halibut! see ya sometime amigo.

Our trailer is a highly modified dedicated Baja trailer which we have been bouncing around Baja for many years. It is fully equiped with all modern up graded marine (boating) equipment. It will go just about any where/every where..only 13 foot..and 30 years old-- looks like it was made in 1913. It sets very high-- the tire size has been increased by three sizes and is is on third set of 6 leaf springs--- we pull it with a V8 4X4 ..If and when we visit we will certainly dispell the rumor of Rico Norte Americanos.

What my wife ( and I) enjoy is a shower and modern bath facilities...do you or will you have them?

I have been a spear fisherman for 60 years It will be a cold day in hell when I lower myself to drown a worm...even from the comfort of my Mexican Mercedes Jr. (FYI I held the California halibut record in 1962 (?)) but thanks for the visual picture.

Dean, we always park the camper at the first restaurant and motel just before the check station. It used to be free to camp if you bought a meal, now I think they charged us $4.00 US the last time. We really like the food at the restaurant and the prices are good. Sorry I am drawing a blank on the name but you can not miss it, right hand side, just before the checkpoint.

Since we have often camped next to and yours and enjoy your company I was under the impression that you were going to say my trailer was made in 1910 rather than 1913...either year would be a close estimate..

I agree that the restaurant and folks at the place before the parallel are top notch..the chef is excellent....uses lots of garlic.
Now Dean...your rig sounds awesome..love to see it and the nonconformist pobre gringitos aboard!!! You don't need no stinking pavement!!
We have hot shower & bathrooms available for campers...so do you still spearfish..you worm hugger..? It's Juan's passion...hope to see ya sooner than later...before the riff raff arrive.

Ask Mario what the fresh catch is and eat at the bar in the back. After a couple of beers and dinner he does let some people camp for free. Some truck noise during the night.
