Father's Day '08 was great!

David K - 6-16-2008 at 07:40 AM

I was going to put this in the other thread 'Happy Fathers Day amigos', until I read it!

So, how about hearing how Baja Nomad fathers celebrated yesterday?

For me, it was being with my two offspring: Chris 19 1/2 years old and Sarah who will be18 next month!

Baja Angel did all the driving so I could relax and visit with Chris and Sarah... We went to Balboa Park, saw the Egytian Mummy film at the Space Theatre and walked around the park... (the Pompei exhibit had a 2 hour wait, so we passed on that). Next, we went out to Point Loma and enjoyed a fantastic view of San Diego Bay and all the way to BAJA!

We ended with a fantastic dinner at P.F. Chang's China Bistro

I hope all the fathers on Nomad had the opportunety to enjoy their day with family as well!

Great day for me also. Even though I am still on a walker I went to my son's hockey game (he is 41). The out to a quite dinner with mucho beers and pizza. Even got a card and two presents. One was a great BBQ to take with me to Baja. I am usually on the road at this time as it is too hot in Vegas. I may have to re-think that.

Went to San Clemente and spent the day at the beach with 2 sons, son in law. daughter, a couple of daughters in law and a bunch of Grandchildren, great weather, great food, and of course a great group. Expect to do the same over the 4th of July.

Hope all fathers had a great day .:bounce:

My hubby requested his favorite meal (generally reserved for "daddy-daughter" time when I go out with friends). Grilled sausages--creole, hotlinks and cheesy Bavarian--with three types of potato chips, watermelon and Sarsparilla. Not a vegetable in sight.

My own dad was in Mulege...wish I was!

Well Juan started his day with...um...I'll leave that part out as it might get deleted....then he went to his father's grave to visit...then to the polls to vote for mayor...then we did the rounds with the family and were particularly glad to have Manolo with us this Father's Day(who very nearly died in a car accident only a little over a month ago)..then I made him carne asada for lunch...then a nice cake arrived sent by his daughters in La Paz...then off to the horse races for the rest of the afternoon.
I was happy to talk to my dear dad too who is nearing 80 and still full of pee and vinager!!!

Got up at 6:30 and went fishing with Alex for rockfish. The sea was really rough. It was cold out there. My toes were numb. We came back skunked. Nevertheless it was good to be out in the elements.

Then we watched the NBA finals, which turned out to be a great game. The Lakers fought desperately to keep from being eliminated and still almost lost. I'm glad they won cause my neighbor would have been heartbroken. He's a diehard Laker fan.

Yes it was a wonderful day for Jim and I too!
The old bodega that we have been transforming into a casita for Jim's 82 year old stepfather, who is living with us now, was ready for habitation.
The smile on his face when we both opened the door and said, "Happy Father's Day" was worth every bit of the effort!

Alas, our dogs got Jim nada....well he got a trip to HomeDepot...always a crowd pleaser with him!

Sounds very, very nice Jose... By-the-way, I did hear your phone message... call when-ever amigo!

Not pictured were two of Baja Angel's kids (Josh and Kristi)... who gave me a card the day before and are covering the cost of the light bar that Josh will be making for my HID lights.

Josh traveled with us to the Baja 1000 in '06: http://vivabaja.com/1106

Here's Josh and Elizabeth at the monument to two lovers 'Hector and Sunshine', south of Bahia de los Angeles town:
