Are there any pangas for hire in Las Animas?

Where is Las Animas? The only Las Animas I know of is a small fishing village near Las Bocas in Sonora.

Unexcusable!:o:light::lol:

Baja Nomad unwritten law: A Baja map must be displayed in your home or office!

Seriously, Bahia las Animas is the next bay south of Bahia de los Angeles (you do know that one, yes?)... A small fish camp is on the shore of the bay reached by a dirt road off the Bahia de los Angeles/ Punta San Francisquito road.

Some photos: http://vivabaja.com/704/page2.html

Road Log:
GPS and Mileage Notes (map datum NAD27 Mex.)

0.0 Camp Gecko Driveway (4.1 mi. so. of pavement/ town): 28°53.96', 113°31.85'

5.7 The old Las Flores jail is 0.3 mi. to right.

8.1 Poor road ahead (28°46.98', 113°32.00') to reach the railroad terminal platform (3 mi.). Main road bends left. Platform at 28°44.73', 113°32.54'

18.5 Old road south via La Bocana valley 28°40.72', 113°25.41' (rejoins main road after 33 rough miles.)

22.3 Las Animas road, turn left 28°40.52', 113°21.72' (stay left at both forks, going in)

33.6 Bahia las Animas 28°48.57', 113°21.34'

You never know if you can find one not working that day who may wish to make some $$... However, this is not a tourist destination of any sort. L.A. Bay has them for hire.

Perhaps a Nomad who goes there frequently would know... Marv Sherrill comes to mind as he is there every year with the Dana Point High Marine Biology Class firld trip. See http://www.bajacalendar.com

Thank you David: I loved the pictures. Made a note to myself to buy a map of Baja to hang in the office. You won't catch me making that mistake again! And, those babies are beautiful!

if you desire to do business with a cool local eco-tour outfit near there, contact La Unica Natural Reserve and Resort www.amazingbaja.com owned by the Smith family - people working to preserve the wild. I think La Unica is in next bay to south of Las Animas.
You can also probably hire a panga out of BOLA.

Thanks, I'm familiar with La Unica. It's located north of Las Animas. It's a bit pricey though.

There is a permanent fishing villiage at Las Animas, and a few weeks ago on the aformentioned student trip, we were able to rent pangas a lot cheaper that getting them from Bay of LA, but it was afternoon fishing only as they had to pick up their nets etc in the mornings. - It would be hit or miss probably for a morning run. Hope this helps ...
