Diesel?

Anyone been south that could tell me if El Rosario has any problems with Diesel? Going south soon and worried about this hole fuel thing. I can go as far as El Rosario but Gerrero Negro will be tough. Any info on Ensanada to San Quintin diesel, would be helpful also. Thanks

I just went through Maneadero and both stations were selling diesel, no lines. One big rig filling up. That was my observation from the road.
I know...Today is Sunday.

Don't take any chances, gas up at the Los Pinos Pemex at the turn to Cieito Lindo off Mex 1. You can top off in El Rosario.

Guys... we have had no problems with Diesel at the BajaCactus Gas Station in El Rosario... until this point we have manage to stay on top of the game... the lowest we have been is around 10,000 lts... we have huge storage tanks.

At this precise moment (Sunday June 22, 2008 / 11:23 pm) we have over 30,000 lts of Diesel in our tanks.

In fact, last week, Pemex told us that, we were the only Gas Station south of Ensenada with Diesel. Now that Rosarito received 300,000 barrels last Saturday, things will look better for a while, however the main Pemex office in Guadalajara told us that the storm is not over yet and advice us to stay alert on the sales of Diesel.

7/8/08 Headed south from SD with 1/2 tank of Diesel. Got all the way to Colenet and no diesel. I could go no further so bought some from a trucker and went on to El Rosario. As Baja Cactus said no problem there or anywhere else south to Loreto. Lucked out comming home. everyone had diesel up to the boarder! My guess is not for long. I crossed with as much diesel as I could. The detour trip through town was no fun. We crossed a little early and it was still dark. We were not kidnapped, robbed, or raped! we beat the odds! and we had a great time!

And because you are always willing to go the extra mile, I will always check to make sure that you have diesel. I would rather take a beating than give the money to someone in Maneadero. (when was the last time they posted to help us out)

i carried an extra 5 gallons of diesel this week and didn't have to use it

i did find stations with diesel in San Quintin but the new station by the packing plant was out...
also...the bathrooms there are ALREADY getting BAD!!! ALREADY!!!

No Diesel at either station in Guerrero Negro today, Wednesday 7/15. Went on up to Jesus Maria, plenty there. Plenty also in San Quintin.

What's the future for diesel at your station looking like?? Deborah and I will most likely be staying at your place on Sunday the 3rd of August. Will call for a reservation as we get closer to that date

Capt. George,

It would be very difficult to answer your question with a definitive answer... mainly because the Diesel availability is not up to us, but to the one and only Pemex distribution center in Baja Norte, which is located in Rosarito.

What I can tell you is that, for the moment (july 17th, 2008), the diesel issue seems to be a little bit more under control... let me be more specific... for the last 4+ weeks, diesel has been very hard to come by... at BajaCactus we managed not to run out of diesel... not even for one day.

A couple of times we even had to ration the amount of diesel being sold, so everyone could keep going and not be stranded down here... the lowest we came was 3,000 lts out of a storage tank with over 60,000 lts of capacity.

The problem is that many, many people going back to the US, wanted to return with as much diesel as possible, not realizing that if we have very little to sell, allowing this may end up leaving the next family stranded down here... and they get very mad because we only sold them enough to get to the border... in this case we had no choice but to follow the saying: "the needs of the many outweigh the need of the one".

Starting this week, Pemex promised to make bigger efforts to correct the situation and maintain it that way... so last Sunday they topped off our tanks... so far this week we have been able to maintain over 50,000 lts of diesel everyday... let us hope Pemex can keep this normal supply of fuel.

I am sorry for not being more helpful, but it would be very difficult for me to state with confidence something that is not up to us... what I can most definitely assure you is that we will continue to do our best effort not to run out of fuel... even if this means to keep calling, and calling and calling Guadalajara and Mexico City, as we did in the past, so Pemex does not forget El Rosario exists.
