Walmart Supercenter, 10 Screen Theatre & Home Depot Opening in Rosarito Beach

conquestkm - 6-26-2008 at 10:49 AM

The Home Depot has already opened and the Walmart Supercenter is about to open along with a Ten Screen Theater, Appleby's Restaurant, VIPS, Peter Piper Pizza, Starbuck's and many more. Ample parking has been planned for (hoo-ray!) and the property has private closed circuit security systems.

The developers are a San Diego based Group and have been responsible for these type of developments throughout Baja such as the one in Ensenada that includes a Costco. Their web site is www.mexicoretailadvisors.com . They are a fine company who is investing a huge amount of funds that will bring us conveniences we have not had in Rosarito before. It is very exciting to see Mexico Retail Advisors believe in and support our City with this beautiful facility. This center is on the north end of Rosarito where the old road and the toll road connect.

When you come down, top off your gas tank with Mexico gas with a price half of San Diego. They ran out of diesel last week because the USA demand. They have now placed a limit of $100.00 on a fill up. Wonder why Mexico's gasoline is half the price of the USA? Hmmmmm. By the way, the Mexican gas is refined in the USA and sent back to Mexico. Another Hmmmm

Refined Gas?

I have for years said Baja Norte gas was from the US. No corroboration, but it made sense. When I came home 2 weeks ago
I was getting gas in Chapultepec and I asked the attendant where was the Pemex refinery that provides their gas-Monterey! Also he said the diesel comes from Chihuahua ?
Yes he was an attendant and seemed informed?

Yes, these shopping centers are going up everywhere- but just because they have the name doesn't mean they have the game. I can see why they would put these away from the border, but don't kow why anyone who can cross the border to shop would go there. I've been to them all in TJ and have shopped the Home Depot in Rosairto (only thing open in that center)

Anyone who's been in a Mexico Home Depot, Walmart or Costco knows they aren't quite the same as stateside. The slections are limited, the prices much higher, the service is non existenet (although tons of employees) and the 10% sales tax is a killer. There's a reason the parking lots are full of baja plates at the Home Depot in Imperial Beach and the Costco in Chula Vista.

Do a search for posts from 'BajaCactus'... he owns and operates a Pemex in Baja (El Rosario) and has posted the source of fuel for Baja Norte.
