Bob & Audry - good to see you made it back, OK...at least Bob did, I guess!

Don't see one of your grande see-gars in thise pics....say, where is that 'Maui' place I see on your T-shirt...is that on main-land Mexico!...ahem.

Did you do much 'exploring' in the area? Did the weather treat you good?

Like the pics...

Bob H. Last time I stayed at Orchard, I don't remember that kind of meal or drinks. What space were you in? Maybe I should have asked for that space!! Probably will be hard to get, once you report it on the net!!!!!

Nice Hat Bob

Baja Red - 4-28-2004 at 09:23 AM

Hey Bob...is that a "Thompson's Cigar Company" hat that you have on?? I was going to ask where your cigar was in the picture with the Margi...however you don't want to ruin a good cigar with the Margi taste and vice versa!! Great pictures. Especially the food! Baja Red

:spingrin:well bob h you have made my day thanks flyingpagan

Bob H - 4-28-2004 at 03:16 PM

MexRay, we had a blast in the 4x4 while the camper was dropped. Went to several places, the farthest being the eastern side of Bahia Concepcion, started up that arroyo but it really got narrow and we backed out. But, it was a great time. Our weather was perfect almost every single day! Only one windy day.

Phil S - The food was from El Candil in town, which I highly recommend. The garlic shrimp plate was only 90 pesos ($8.18) We were in space #77 I think, but, they are going to all be gone soon because they are building little casas on those spots soon. They've already started and they are selling for $70K and up. Kinda pricey for the little size you get. But the ones they've built all have sold signs on them.

Baja Red - yep, you are correcto mi amigo, that is my Thompson Cigar Hat. The cigar is best had alone, and I had nice choices along with me for the ride.

Pamela, I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. I have a few more.

The oldest man in Mulege, maybe all of Baja!

hey bob! where are the party shots?

capt. mike - 4-28-2004 at 04:37 PM

those are the ones i want to see! and the video did not come thru. can you park that on a web site i can go to and watch? or down load. e mails some times won't accept files bigger than a certian size, and even small vid clips are huge.

You can see some of my fishing trip pics up at www.baja.net in the nautical/fishing sub forum. was during your 1st weekend down when we met.

Bob H - 4-28-2004 at 06:09 PM

Mike, you asked for party shots.... how about a cigar party shot! I was trying to see how long I could keep the ash on the stogie here. Shortly after this shot it fell off....

elgatoloco - 4-29-2004 at 08:47 AM

Great stuff Bob H!!

Wasn't that truckplanter the coolest? Did you check out the view from the hotel balcony up there?? We checked out the rooms and they were nice.

Bob H - 4-29-2004 at 10:49 AM

EGL - you are correct, the view from up there is very nice indeed. Didn't check out the rooms though - how much? :smug:

elgatoloco - 4-29-2004 at 04:09 PM

We were told $45.00 a night? The restaurant was still a week away from opening at the time. That was the week of March 20th.

Do you have any nice photos of the mission?

Bob H - 5-8-2004 at 05:06 PM

There a shot of the Mission a couple of posts behind yours. Here's a shot of the bell tower! Was not able to get any shots inside as they were preparing it for a wedding.

Mulege Mission

academicanarchist - 5-8-2004 at 09:22 PM

Nice shots of the mission. When I was first there 30 years ago, God that's a long time, the rear of the convento evidenced considerable deterioration. Have they done much to repair the building? Mulege is very interesting architecturaly, particularly when compared to the other contemporary churches such as Loreto and San Francisco Xavier. The University of San Francisco has the surviving baptismal and burial records for the mission, and the oldest date back to about 1718. There are also detailed inventories of all of the Baja missions from 1773 and 1774. Thanks for the shots.
