Fish in September

BirdDog - 6-26-2008 at 12:57 PM

I have a pretty good idea of what species of fish will be around Asuncion when we come down in Sept. We are planning to head to Mulege for a few days during the month and I was wondering what species will be around that area at that time. Will the Dorado still be there? What about the Billfish? Just trying to load up on lures. Need one of everything and a couple of spares for each. Thanks

Actually, you should be there in time to catch the end of the dorado, Sailfish and Marlin season in the Cortez.

Thanks man. Being from a place where we put the stinkiest thing we can get on a hook to catch a catfish anything would be cool.

BirdDog, A sackful of catfish is better than an empty sack.

The last few years the dorado and billfish has been the best from mid Oct to mid Nov. around San Marcos Isl. and Tortuga. I don't know about around Concepcion and South. Since the cool water is just now moving out maybe we'll have another extended season. Keep an eye on the weather forecast before you head south. Of course the best info will be from Nomads.

Damn straight Cypress. When we get into the flatheads the feed is on.

Mid-September can be a little early to find really good billfishing and dorado since the Mulege-Santa Rosalia fish will usually stage a little later like the first to the middle of October. Depends totally on weather and water temps. The most current and up to date reports can be found at:
