Well, it's about time.

BajaWarrior - 7-1-2008 at 04:42 PM

Ya, that's the word on the street...

Congradulations, when is the big day?

Bajabus - 7-1-2008 at 05:20 PM

Congrats DK. I'll send out 2 Obama T shirts fer ya for the after party festivities

David K - 7-1-2008 at 06:29 PM

Yup she's perfect and puts up with my nonesense...

The Mulege deal won't work unfortunately because Bob and Susan's place is just too popular the week we have off... bummer!

Maybe Vegas then north to Wyoming to see Yellowstone? Elizabeth's Toyota gets 37 mpg, so why not?

Doug, still waiting for that non-Baja trip reports forum!:light:

Many thanks again to Bob and Susan for the invitation... maybe we can still honeymoon there, next vacation?

CONGRATS

bajapablo - 7-1-2008 at 09:08 PM

DK and Baja Angel,
If you head north outta vegas to yellowstone or wherever. Stop in St. George and visit "Broadway in the Desert" I will give you two tickets to either Les Mis or Sound of Music as your wedding gift. Just let me know. Check out Tuacahn.org for more info. Tuacahn is a wonderful outdoor amphitheater with quality musicals nightly. It is located right next to Snow Canyon State Park.

FYI: I do not work for tuacahn and am not selling anything like timeshares, bridges, or swampland.

Mexray - 7-1-2008 at 09:09 PM

Congrat's to you both...great news!

In Vegas, try to catch the Cirque De Soleil's Beatles Love show at the Mirage...it's a real blast, if you haven't seen it!

Have fun up there at Jelleystone Park...:tumble:

BAJACAT - 7-1-2008 at 09:12 PM

Felicidadez David and Elizabeth...

greybaby - 7-1-2008 at 09:50 PM

Okay - if you're going for a nonBaja honeymoon, I can add my vote for Yellowstone. Grew up 90 miles from the West entrance and it is just a gorgeous area. I suggest that you go through Jackson Hole, Wyoming to see the breathtaking Tetons and then into the Park. Take your time and be a tourist. It's simply beautiful. Haven't taken the time to go through there when we go "home" to Bozeman, but give it all a thumbs up!! And very romantic. Enjoy.

bajalera - 7-1-2008 at 09:57 PM

Best wishes to you both!

Ken Cooke - 7-1-2008 at 10:06 PM

Felicidades!! I'm happy for both of you!

If you are up that way a must-see is the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, but be careful...My ex-husband is a deputy there and he loves lead-foots like you! Have a great time!

David K - 7-1-2008 at 10:53 PM

Thanks all... This wasn't the official announcement thread... it seems Bob & Susan spilled the beans when I responded to his offer in another thread. We are all grown up now with adult children... so this will be a casual event.

Ken, I hadn't seen that photo before... looks like Mama Espinoza's in El Rosario where your group stayed before learning about Baja Cactus where we were! What's that, a Baja Almanac in my hand!!??

Thanks jeans, I would like to see the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody... as my grandfather is in the big photo of Buffalo Bill's (Col. William Cody's) hunting party of some nearly 100 years ago. Also, my mom was born in Cody!

Graham - 7-1-2008 at 11:02 PM

David and Angel,

Great news! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness and Baja adventures.

Congrats from Bonni and Graham.

rogerj1 - 7-1-2008 at 11:23 PM

Good decision heading North David. Even an angel needs a break from Baja.

GeoRock - 7-1-2008 at 11:30 PM

Well, it's about time you made an honest woman of Elizabeth. I figured you two were right for each other. So when is the big date? Did you ever get my Yosemite dates for camping? Never heard from you two about it. Dates are still valid, I'm leaving tomorrow for 2 and a half weeks. Climbing Half Dome July 12th.

bajadogs - 7-2-2008 at 01:03 AM

Bob and Susan - 7-2-2008 at 05:41 AM

oooppps....didn't know it was a secret...:O:O

sorry...have your "angel" check the vacation schedule to change one week

then you "COULD" come to mulege;);)

Bob H - 7-2-2008 at 07:01 AM

Whooooo-Hooooooo! What is the date?

More good times ahead, for sure!

Congratulations and may you both enjoy what life has in store for you forever.

Bajagypsy - 7-2-2008 at 07:11 AM

Congratulations to both of you!

Jack Swords - 7-2-2008 at 07:22 AM

Very happy to hear this. Congratulations!! Another wife who loves Mexico and Baja. You are indeed blessed.

Great news

Keri - 7-2-2008 at 07:35 AM

Congrats to you both,k:yes:

David K - 7-2-2008 at 07:51 AM

Thanks again gang... and Bob & Susan, no worries as it isn't really a secret or a rush job (she's not 'with child'), just didn't expect a big public announcement!

Bob H, that weekend in Ensenada was fun, Mariscos Mazatlan rocks! How many Pacificos??

Elizabeth and I have been together for 3 1/2 years, and they have been great... to find someone so compatible and happy to be with is a true blessing. She actually is disappointed if we don't go to Baja when there is a 3 day weekend! Shell Island and Guadalupe Canyon being her favorite places to camp... but Bahia Concepcion (El Requeson) last July was a winner, too.. but that requires more than 3 days off!

By the way, she works for a hospital and time off is not easy to alter once reserved. We took the week of July 20 off because that is when the El Rosario fesival happens and we like El Rosario and want to support Baja Cactus (Antonio) with the event. Alas, it was cancelled this year...

Cypress - 7-2-2008 at 08:13 AM

David K. and soon to be Elizabeth K. Congrats!:D

wilderone - 7-2-2008 at 08:26 AM

Yes, a blessing when you've found a life-long Baja buddy - congratulations and happy trails.

Pescador - 7-2-2008 at 08:45 AM

congratulations. That is fantatic, Too bad about the timing, Bob and Susan's place would have been fantastic, and if it got too hot we could have done the whole thing in the swimming pool.

fdt - 7-2-2008 at 08:57 AM

Congratulations David and Elizabeth, we are very happy for you both.

Wow, you have a great memory! Yes, we were at Mama Espinozas, and you and Elizabeth were at Baja Cactus. That is Nomad Chris (or CG) to my left, and Brad & Rhoda Green - my Red Rock 4 Wheeler friends visiting from Colorado.

How about a "Yosemite" wedding?

thebajarunner - 7-2-2008 at 04:45 PM

Come on up, I know a judge that would do the deal- cheap.

(come to think of it, you know the judge as well- enough on that)

We could even all climb Half Dome and do the ceremony on top. (not much chance of seeing our judge buddy up on that summit, however)

First time our family climbed it ten years ago they did a wedding on top- that was a pretty tired looking wedding party.

Bajafun777 - 7-2-2008 at 11:50 PM

Well, just remember after the first 15 years the next 15 is a snap. After 34 years I always get my way, say and do as I please, drink when I want to and run with my old buddies playing cards and B.S.ing all night every time she goes out of town. Really, it is great having a good friend, that is also your lover as it brings on the extra bonuses you just love receiving. It seems like Baja Angel is up for the challenges that you throw at her and believe me that counts for a lot as every time I get an urge to go anywhere Mexico, Central America, and islands off of Florida my wife is game. Ah, Life is sweet and if only after all of these years I could get her to mind me each and every time, then life would be really sweeter. Later----- bajafun777

bajaandy - 7-3-2008 at 06:39 AM

Hey hey! Congratulations Elizabeth and David! Stasi and I are very happy for you. May you enjoy many happy times together! Way to go!

Barry A. - 7-3-2008 at 10:59 AM

FANTASTIC!!!!!

We just got home from Utah to see this thread----------we wish you two all the best.

If you get to Old Faithful in the morning check the Old Faithful lodge overlooking Old Faithful geiser for cancellations------the old multi-storage historical lodge is a blast to stay in, and very very reasonable--------

-----it is amazing how often you can get into fully booked hotels when you show up at 10AM

Have fun, you two.

Steve in Oro Valley - 7-3-2008 at 12:57 PM

Congratulations David and Baja Angel:

David--- you should check out Cody, Arizona (the one that is just south of Oracle, Arizona on the way to Peppersauce Canyon in the northern foothils of the Santa Catalina Mountains). It is a dude ranch that was originally established by Cody in about 1912 when he had mining interests near here....

I accidentally found it when I was hiking a portion of the Arizona trail last November....

There is a foto of CODY standing next to a horseless carriage and you will notice that the object to which the foto is attached is the rusting body of the vehicle in the foto...

good luck

Steve in Oro Valley

Congrats DK!

Skipjack Joe - 7-3-2008 at 02:48 PM

There's just a few more hours.
That's all the time you've got;
A few more hours
Before they tie the knot.
...
...
Feather and tar me;
Call out the Army;
But get me to the church.
Get me to the church.
For God's sake, get me to the church on time!

Natalie Ann - 7-3-2008 at 06:14 PM

Kudos to you, DavidK and BajaAngel. Everything you wish for - and more.

Thanks again... but please wait until we actually get married! We don't need to jinx the deal!
;)
We have been engaged since Sept. 6, 2006 :bounce:

You guys are all real cool and I appreciate that... I know that I bug some of you by sharing too much of Baja's wonders or just posting so much or whatever, but all of you are amigos and I would help any of you anytime it was needed or requested!

Now, let us get married before any more congrats, okay?

Messed up brakelines, blown tire, smashed steel rim - but the Ford Ranger made it back home so I could repair it for about $3K and have it break down on me in San Ignacio on Christmas Morning 16 months later = PRICELESS!

Remember DesertBull's broken flatbed trailer I destroyed on the Observatory Road in the Sierra San Pedro Martir!?!

I know that Tim let you use it to bring out your Ford Ranger... I never heard that it was broken or that you broke it!

My offer is limited to what I am able to do... give advice, trip info., provide a beer, make an emergency run to near El Marmol to rescue Neal Johns! I actually missed out on doing that!

Neal is the only man I know tough enough to break a Toyota!:light::spingrin:

Loan me your Toyota, and I'll bring it back from Tecate on Sunday morning looking for a repair shop!

David K - 7-3-2008 at 09:21 PM

Now thanks... I will need to hang on to it to bring back the Jeep when you call!

We all should be ashamed however, as it was The Squarecircle who showed us all up when his Land Rover became the first four wheel full size rig to make it from Hwy. 5 to 1 via the La Turquesa Canyon, since the road was washed out!

El Camote - 7-3-2008 at 10:36 PM

Getting married?

David, I can save you a lot of time and trouble. Go out and find a woman you hate and buy her a house. :light::yes:;D

Congrats. Fantastic to find a Baja travel companion...especially if they cook breakfast!

MexicoTed - 7-3-2008 at 11:36 PM

Great news David & Elizabeth. I knew you too were perfect for each other and glad you will be as one soon!

Skeet/Loreto - 7-4-2008 at 03:44 AM

David K.

Good Luck David!! I feel very sure that you and Elizabeth will be as successful in your marriage as it is in your Life!!

Try Reno Nevada on Feb. 14th, no waiting lines, as Virginia and I did 21 years ago.
Met Virginia when I was 48 and she 24, been together a total of 28 years, the Love of my Life.
Be young, Adventure, Live Life as every Day is the Last.

Anon The Preacher

capt. mike - 7-4-2008 at 06:13 AM

Congrats you two - enjoy life together if/as you are compatible, have a cerimony, a party, invite friends - do it all.............but save yourself the legal encumbrances of actually signing a state enforced contract!! Marriage is for having new children - if not doing that, at least with each other, forget a written encumbrance!
you'll be happier down the road if either or both of you decide the bliss has blasted.

who needs an enforceable contract? with divorce at 50% plus odds are most don't last.

the above was proven advice from my atty and CPA. I have gobs of friends who paid the price from entering into a contract when all they needed was a simple personal commitment outside the boundary of the state.
me - i have been legally hitched 28 years. i was young when i "signed" up.
i would never "contract" formally for marriage again.

Bob and Susan - 7-4-2008 at 06:29 AM

yea mike...who would have you:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Baja Angel - 7-4-2008 at 09:33 AM

Well, thank you everyone for the outstanding encouragement/ congradulations.... I know many of you and really appreiate it.

It seems that a simple 'thought' has turned into a major 'reality'!

I don't even know how this thread actually got started

Now I'm really feeling the pressure like "Now I have to do this" :O

Hmmmmm..... what to think....what to do????? :?:

All good things are going to happen, at the right time.

I would LOVE to come down to Mulege but I work in the medical field and unfortunately I have to request my vacations a year in advance, :fire:

This was just the time the El Rosario Festival was to be.

BUT.... we will definitely be down.

Thanks again everyone! :saint:

capn.sharky - 7-5-2008 at 09:00 AM

David---why is the word for handcuffs in Spanish "espousa"? Think about it. By the way---congratulations on your upcoming marriage.

Gadget - 7-5-2008 at 07:43 PM

Wow, thats cool. Been off for a few days and look what I missed.

Our 30th is coming soon and I can say with firm conviction, HANG ONTO THE BAJA GAL! (caps are happy yelling)

Sharks, I thought I burned all those "three engineer's" pics!

Skeet, good advice. I got married on Feb. 14, 1990 in a ghost town (Nipton). Marian still thinks it was a real preacher. Are you listening, David?:biggrin::biggrin:

the word for handcuffs and married is the same, CASADA.
is that what you were saying??

Baja Angel - 7-6-2008 at 06:05 PM

I think its funny how men do all they can to get the woman of their dreams and then think that 'they are losing their freedom'.

What about all the freedom the woman is losing?

Besides, David likes my handcuffs... they are soft and fluffy!
