Hi,
We are planning a 10 person family vacation to Mulege and are looking for a place to stay. We are leaning towards La Serenidad. They don't have any
villas available so we have been looking around for something else in the area. Serenidad also seems much more expensive than some of the
others....for good reason? Any other recommendations or thoughts on La Serenidad? We would like to be close to the water. Thanks!

you could try Naranjos on the bay if the Serenidad is too expensive...
take a look...

the bungalows are right on the beach...
it's kinda like nice- and- clean camping...
we are a little more expensive

but way nicer than both

Hotel San Buenaventura, about 20 miles south of Mulege, right on the beach and with a restaruant on site and others not to far away..

a couple came by yesterday from italy...
they were staying at the Hotel San Buenaventura
they said all the restruants on the other beaches were closed for the summer...open later
i haven't checked
it's about the same price as the Serenidad now...

IMHO, there is no comparison between the lodgings at Serenidad and Buenaventura. Serenidad is much better and closer to town, restaurants, etc. It has
a pool, boat ramp with panga charters, restaurant, pig roasts, swim-up bar and day trips to Concepcion beaches are 10-25 minutes drive.
Buenaventura does have a fairly nice beach if that's your main objective.
Bob's Lighthouse Resort is very nice with a pool, cook, bar, brand new casitas made of block with US-style services and a nice beach with lots of
toys.
Fishing charter pangas can pick you up at his beach !
His wife will even take you Hobie sailing !!
Bob,
Aren't there some other, more Mexican hotel/casita rentals near the river ?
And what about the nice house/B&B south of town ? Is that still renting ?
And thinking of the river; how is Marv doing ?
Long time no post ??

they, the Serenedad, throw a nice pig roast, but otherwise the rooms are overpriced and rather dated. I've stayed at some funky little places in town
but nowhere I would take a big family group. from what I've read Bob's Lighthouse might be a good option but I've not been there myself.

Bresa Del Mar? Spelling might be wrong. It's on the south side of the river not far from the lighthouse, boat launch etc.
Not fancy, good hiking in the desert behind the hotel.

Hey Jennifer, it depends what time of year you want to go...I vote for Playa Naranjo as they have lots of good size "houses" for rent for the whole
gang and it's a nice spot...a few casas to choose from BUT it's bloody hot in the summer...we stayed there in May and it was even too hot for me
then...no air conditioning...just a fan and lots of mosquitos! so bring netting!
Cypress - 7-7-2008 at 05:11 AM
baja99, The hotel I mentioned is not on the south side of the river, it's on the north about 1/2 mile from the beach.

the cuesta real has gotten many good reviews from people who have visited here recently...
i would reccomend it...
http://www.bajaquest.com/cuestareal/
it's by the river NOT on the beach...
for 10 people i'd get reservations ANYWHERE...
Naranjos DOES NOT have "houses" for rent...these are "bungalos" (sp)
it's actually "luxuary camping"
http://mulege.org/naranjos/naranjos.htm
mosquitos??? we have NONE
no propane attractant
keep the fan on and they stay away
mosquitos do like those palm roofs
this weekend Naranjos was completely FULL...
some people "LIKE IT HOT!!!"
there are ALOT of vacationers here in mulege this july...
this is unsual
someone told me there were very few vacancies in town
i'm guessing its the price of gas in the states "driving" them down

fo 10 people i'd go to loreto!!
or for mulege Don Johnson Serenidad owner has a nice duplex luxury home on the river walk for rent just down from the Serenidad that has enough room
for 10 easily. have your own compound. and can walk everywhere, use the hotel amenities.
or try the Casa Granada next to Serenidad. large B&B with enough for 10.
otherwise you're going to be in a bunch of hotel rooms no matter where you are.
if you want a nice place on the water stay at Playa Frambes, what time of year? if you want AC it makes a diff where you stay.
are there childrens involved??
baja99 - 7-7-2008 at 07:36 AM
Thanks for all the info! We are coming down this month- we know it will be hot but are okay with that! There are kids involved- ages 8-16. We tried
the Casa Granada- but it is closed until October. Thanks again for the insight - very helpful!

How about Clementines? Anyone stayed there? Seems like they have room for larger group. I don't know how much further away from the water it is
though.

There may be a house in Punta Chivato available. My sister and family,10 people, just left there and had a great time. Right on the water and totally
equipped. Just bring food. Contact Pam at -- chivatorental@cs.com --- They have a web site but I don't have I don't have the address....
Found it... http://www.vrbo.com/80628 ... tell them Russ sent you. Here's a Photo of the family

Pam is one of the first people I contacted but the house was already booked! I'd love to try and stay there some time though- it sounds great. Good to
hear it is as advertised!
