Tough weekend in TJ

fulano - 7-7-2008 at 10:56 AM

I usually read the newspapers (on the Internet) in the morning after breakfast. By my count there were over 15 murders in TJ from Saturday morning through about 6AM this morning.

Based on the chit-chat, it looks like most of this is "settling of scores" among the narcos.

Here's the to-date tally for Tijuana for 2008:

Imparables

242 homicidios en 2008, de enero a junio.

Enero: 41
Febrero: 37
Marzo: 54
Abril: 61
Mayo: 21
Junio: 28

As Fulano pointed out in a previous post, the Mexican press
regularly report many more incidents than the American MSM.

Looks like they could...

...be on a pace to set a new high from the April record. Let's cheer them on as they kill off the competition and are left standing alone, an easier a target.

following the "el mexicano" link there are a lot of comments. I put those comments through the babelfish translator and it seems there is a lot of anger towards the people of Sinaloa. Presumably people in Tijuana and elsewhere think it is the Sinaloa drug cartel(s) that are responsible for these killings, and for the drug trade more generally.

the English version. It actually made the AP this time :o ... must be a slow news day.

6 burnt bodies appear in Tijuana, Mexico
By DAN KEANE

TIJUANA, Mexico (AP) — Police on Monday found six charred bodies on a Tijuana street following a bloody weekend that left 14 people dead.

Assistant Baja California state attorney Salvador Ortiz said the six unidentified men were shot dead early Monday morning and their corpses set on fire.

The state attorney's office also reported another eight men killed over the weekend in separate attacks.

The execution-style killings marked a resurgence in violence between feuding Tijuana drug cartels.

"It's a situation that obviously worries us," Ortiz said, counting up the weekend's toll on his fingers while speaking to reporters outside the city police station.

One of burned bodies had been handcuffed, while others had their heads wrapped in plastic bags, Ortiz said.

Ortiz said investigators still do not know if the weekend killings were related to the burned bodies. A Tijuana police officer is the chief suspect in a triple shooting over the weekend.

Words spelled correctly (i.e., worst) but used grammatically incorrectly, will not be caught with spell checker. We just need to read what we write prior to posting. And I think we're all guilty of not doing so.

Interesting that people in TJ should be blaming people from Sinaloa. We spent some time in Sinaloa a fews years ago, and when stuff went missing in the village, it was the fault of people coming in from Sonora. When we camped in Sonora, it was people from somewhere else. In Gualulajara, they blamed the criminals from Mexico City Here in Centenario, the criminals are all from TJ, Sonora and Mexicali!
