We visited Mulege today, including a stop at the museum, located in the old territorial prison.
Lots of old junk, lots of sea shells, a good collection of fossils. A few things were really special. The top five treasures:
Here's a painting, showing hard-line Mulege justice. I think this was a gringo that complained about something on the internet:
Okay, actually it was a 13 year old that stole some fruit and a broken gun that would not shoot.
Number four, this chicken:
I think it's pretty cool, but wait, it gets better. Number three:
But now we get into some serious stuff. A genuine, fell from the sky UFO!
But let me make a suggestion to the museum folks: This is SO much better than the scraps of tin foil they found at Roswell. Why give visitors a paper,
in English, explaining that this is "Star 4B Motor" made by Boeing? That's a thinner excuse than "weather balloon."
Hey, combine it with the dried "alien" in the previous pic and really put Mulege on the map.
And finally, the number one treasure of the Mulege museum:

In all the years we've gone to Mulege I have never been into the museum.
Thanks for sharing.
Bruce will tell you that he dated Olivia and that she was heartbroken when he dumped her !

Most excellent Don!

Nice images and story, Don. Thank you.
This was it four years ago before the place was spiffed up with exhibits of those creepy animals and the alien craft which brought 'em, plus Olivia's
autographed smile:

One of the few remaining proofs that largemouth bass exist in the river at Mulege...honest.

I have had pointed out to me a palapa in the village of San Nicolas' which was supposed to have been owned by Newton-John and her husband. It was
somewhat deteriorated and only part of it was identifyable. We called it: Olivia Newton's "John". As far as I know, San Nic didn't get an 8 x 10
glossy.

I also cannot believe in all these years we have not been to that museum. Thanks---love the photos.
We really need to visit it, but not until winter.
Thanks for sharing the great images.

The last time I was in Mulage the prison had not been converted to a museum. But none the less it was interesting.
Barry A. - 7-20-2008 at 08:05 PM
The prison is well worth a visit----------very interesting. Been there at least 6 times, with different folks each time.
Pompano------Isn't that Ray Cannon in that photo on the left with the fish??

Pompano - 7-20-2008 at 08:27 PM
BArry...yes, indeedy..tis him.
p.s. I tried to find out where I got that photo and couldn't pin it down for sure, but I think it came from Lou Federico's book, 'One Hell of a
Ride.' Then again, it may be from Gardner's 'Off the Beaten Path'.. Sorry I can't be more specific right now.

Have you considered that if Olivia Newton-John divorced, then married Wayne Newton, divorced again and married Elton John (don't know why) she would
then be known as Olivia Newton-John Newton-John.

Osprey------at the risk of being too personal, how long have you had this stuttering problem?

When I was a kid I had 2 pet salamanders, 1 female and 1 male. I named them Olivia newt and John. If Tuesday Weld married Fredrick March Jr. would
she be Tuesday March the second? If Ida Lupino married Don Ho would she be Ida Ho? Quien sabe?
