I have been filling up in either Rosarito or Tijuana on a weekly basis for a few months now. No shortage for regular gas as far as I can see. I know there were some issues with diesel though....

Can't vote because I don't know what you mean by "Baja"

If you mean Baja Callifornia, I guess there could be shortages, but I don't live there.

If you mean Baja California Sur, the answer is no, we have had no shortages other than the occasional outage of one grade or another for a couple of days while waiting for a new tanker to dock in La Paz. This has only happened a couple of times in the last six months.

While there have been a few stations that were out of fuel here and there over the last few weeks, not one of our friends or family have ever been unable to get gas on this side of the border. Diesel has had a few problems but still, even those needing to get diesel have been able to find a station a bit farther down the road.

As with many of the stories reported, it seems to be a case of more of the same news making the rounds over and over than the reality those of us living here actually see and experience. It's your choice whether to believe a story just repeated off the wire services or the first hand reports of folks actually living down here. I am not trying to convince anybody of anything more than my own experience.

YMMV

"Tijuana, Rosarito Beach reporting gas shortages "

July 26, 2008

TIJUANA: Gasoline stations in Tijuana and in Rosarito Beach are closing for up to 24 hours because of a continuing fuel shortage.
About 40 percent of stations in Otay Mesa and in the southern and eastern parts of Tijuana ran out of regular and premium gasoline yesterday, station owners said.

Joaquín Aviña, president of the Association of Gas Station Owners of Tijuana, predicted that 60 percent of stations will close temporarily Monday.

Pemex, the national oil monopoly, operates a plant in Rosarito Beach that distributes fuel to all of Baja California, but it doesn't have the capacity to meet the demand for gasoline and diesel, Aviña said.
Demand for gasoline has increased more than 30 percent the first six months of this year, compared with 2007. The high demand is largely because of the difference in fuel costs in the United States and Mexico, where the price is much lower because of government subsidies.

Had a problem with diesel in Mexicali about 6 weeks ago but the gasoline has not been a problem here. The diesel finally got back up and for two weeks they would only let a single truck buy $1,000 pesos worth but that filled me up ok. I go down about every two weeks and only about 6 weeks ago was it real bad. Later-------------------- bajafun777
