Anyone ever fish Calamajue?

I'm headed to Gonzaga next month, but was thinking on heading a little further south to kayak fish Calamajue, then work our way back north. I've kayak fished Gonzaga dozens of times, but am curious what it's like a little further south. Any advice? We plan on camping on the beach and launching our kayaks from the nearest available shoreline.

Just be aware that stretch of coast is notorious for drug activity. Coco even warned us about camping out there.

Use the Nomad search and enter 'Calamajue' by 'Skipjack Joe' and also by 'gringorio' for details on the Calamajue fish camp. The posts by others are on the canyon and mission site of Calamajue.

coco warned us to,not about drugs but about snakes...he said they were everywhere and big too,ahh that coco is such a joker we didnt see a one:lol::lol: but what we did see when we kayaked out of that little cove and into the open sea of cortez was astounding to say the least,kind of hard to explain its somethin you have to see for yourself...like watching one of those real cool nature shows on discovery but instead of tv its happening right there in front of you:o oh yea... everybody caught there fair share of triggers,even the youngsters

Where the current runs, about a mile off shore, there will be lots of nets strung running across it. That is where the yellows and white sea bass are. Near shore fishing is about the same as punta final. Not really worth paddling all the way down there, of course, it is fishing. Your best bet on a kayak would to be to try and get a few live baits in the bay and then drop them down about 150 ft off the old ship wreak.
