I sometimes (well about once a month) have a glitch of some kind with Directv- usually lost channels, etc.
I found that the easiest and quickest way to check is simply open the little box on the front of the control unit and punch the red reset button.
Usually takes a few minutes to cycle all the way back around, and so far has always solved the problem.
Good luck

And Direct TV can not understand why a lot of people are moving to FTA. I got so frustrated when they insisted on charging me $5 a month for the time
I was in Mexico and if I wanted to disconnect, then I had a really steep re-connection bill. What a lousy way to do business.
When in Rome..............

OR, in this case, Mexico.
I Don't do this, but.................
Viewsat Ultra Receiver $165.00.
Firmware updates either free via Internet or subscription $10..00 monthly.
FTA ++++

My House in San Quintin is off grid. and we don't go there all the time. I don't want a big monthly bill for something I'm not going to be there to
receive. View sat sounds interesting. Can you tell me more?

Viewsat is one of the better receivers for FTA, which stands for Free To Air. With the proper dish you can receive approx 175+ channels that are
bounced off of the satellite. Once you buy a receiver you are pretty much good to go. When the signals get scrambled, the various sites will send
out a fix which you download to a thumbie and install it into your receiver.

Here is one of the better suppliers of Satellite TV Equipment. Excellent prices and great service.

The Viewsat Ultra is the most popular model and, like most of the better receivers, has a USB port for firmware updates.
