Another FM3 Question

bajaday - 8-5-2008 at 12:09 PM

Has anyone heard about this new requirement for FM3s? This was posted on a website for the South Campos in San Felipe.

IMMIGRATON - STRICT COMPLIANCE
THE LOCAL IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT IS NOW UNDER NEW DIRECTION TO
"APPLY STRICT COMPLIANCE" in processing documentation!!!

in the past the local immigration office was a little lax in processing procedures, not now.

the "proof of address" requirement now is requiring per the law the following:

lease - in spanish
receipts - in spanish
letters from landlords - in spanish

ALL THE ABOVE DOCUMENTATION NOW MUST BE ACCOMPANIED WITH COPIES OF THE "MAKERS" (landlord) FEDERAL VOTER REGISTRATION CARD OR MEXICAN PASSPORT(front and back).

no fm will be processed without submitting copies of this identification and refusal is a
violation of the federal immigration laws! if landlords refuse to supply copies of their identification it is incumbent of all applicants to apply directly to immigration for redress.
not doing so will result in your fm processing being denied, and you become illegal.

Woooosh - 8-5-2008 at 12:11 PM

I had to comply with all of the above when renewing my FM3 in Rosarito in January.

It seems to me that I had to do all that...as I have fotocopys of my old landlords ID card in my files...It's been awhile...

Must be different with a fido. we did ours in march, they wanted bank statements, elec. bill, and a copy of the bank trust. We used a service, maybe that helps cut through the paperwork...Been doing it this way from many years..

Thanks for the answers. Up until now, I've renewed it like Terry28. I just wonder what I'm gonna have to go thru to get the correct documents from my landlord, especially the copies of his personal documents.

I think what this is all about ..... is an effort to collect taxes from the landloard.

I disagree with CaboRon. Here in Manzanillo you have to also sign a form certifying that you are married. In addition your signature must be witnessed by 2 mexican nationals and you must submit copies of their IFE card with the form. I think it is just that the IFE card is the best piece of identification that all mexican nationals have.

It looks as if immigration will squeeze the landloard if they refuse to supply the documentation.

What if you are not married ....???

stanburn - 8-5-2008 at 07:51 PM

If one is not married and is asked for copies of the landlord's IFE cards, then I guess one could assume that the government is trying to get taxes from the landlord. That also assumes that Immigration talks with Hacienda which I think is a large leap of faith.

However, one is entitled to one's opinion.......................

You are right on ....

This is an effort to reign in the tax scofflows ...

And don't be too surprised if Immigration does talk with Hacienda ...

The gov't has been building a network and things you could get away with twenty years ago are a bust now....

Look at the data base for cars .....
They know if you do not turn in your sticker when leaving the mainland .....

The key, of course, is building a good data base.
