My dog is in Heaven

Bob H - 8-8-2008 at 09:54 PM

I will sorely miss my dog Shelby. She was the "wonderdog" known by most who ever met her. My heart aches for her but she had a wonderful 15+ years of life. May she rest in peace. Some Nomads met her and know how sweet she was. I will miss her so much.

Sorry to hear about Shelby. It's very sad when your best friend moves on.

BajaKeela - 8-8-2008 at 10:13 PM

It's always painful to lose a best friend..She'll be in good company.. We lost our little 15 year old Bichon (keela) ..2yrs ago and we still miss her..Know that you're not alone and when the sorrow abates a little ..Remember the good times and all the joy she gave you..

BajaGringo - 8-8-2008 at 10:55 PM

Bob - I am so sorry about losing your Shelby. I share your love for these special friends God gives us. Take some comfort in the special memories you shared together. Sounds to me like Shelby was a lucky dog...

LancairDriver - 8-8-2008 at 11:01 PM

It is always painful to loose our pets. They have full-fledged status as loved family members. There is some solace in remembering that they had a good long life with us.

Can you imagine the torment the mayor of the small Maryland town and his wife and mother in law went through yesterday( 8-7) when jack booted "law enforcement" thugs on a botched drug raid kicked in his door and shot his two young labs in his home- one that was running away- The punks "felt threatened". The police refuse to apologize and say they were justified, even though the family had no connection with the weed at all. Unfortunately this is all to prevalent today. Its past time to clean house. Bob, sorry to hear about your loss and not taking anything away from your dog but she reminds me of "Old Yeller." Having said that, you know when your ready maybe there is another younger version of "Shelby" out there somewhere needing your love and care. Take care amigo-------------------- Later---bajafun777

The Rainbow Bridge Story

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and time gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

THEN YOU CROSS RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER....

don't know the dog, don't know the owner....but I'm crying anyway..........

those who haven't had pets never understand the grief that those of us who are blessed to live with pets feel when a special one leaves the family.

our special friends......................

Sharksbaja - 8-9-2008 at 08:43 PM

What a bummer. Sorry to hear Bob you guys lost a family member.

Hook - 8-9-2008 at 10:02 PM

Bob, I am really hurting to hear about the loss of Shelby. What a fine dog she was.

It took us a year to get over the loss of our English Lab, Diggity. But eventually we got another and wondered why we waited so long.

We highly recommend the "get back up on the horse" method of getting over the loss of a great dog.

Shelby had a room mate the last three months, Luke, the chocolate lab. He's now 21 months old and lives with us full time. Bob H

I feel for you guys...Shelby is happily romping with our Vanilla in doggie heaven and glad to be there...be glad her new life has started.
Yesterday someone "dropped off" the cutest little girl puppy here...she is a gorgeous gray...umm....looks like some kind of bulldoggie...pretty big paws and wrinkly face...too cute and she meows like a cat and has THUMBS on her back paws??? She really needs a family Bob and it's a great excuse to come down for the fishing tournament and fiestas!!!

AcuDoc - 8-10-2008 at 06:24 PM

Sorry for your loss Shelby is playing with all good baja dogs in heaven including my Cheyanne. Rio now three is has plenty of time here with me still.

vandenberg - 8-10-2008 at 07:48 PM

Bob.
Very sorry to hear about your loss. Having gone through the grief of loosing a pet several times during my life, I know what you're going through. I'm dreading the day to have to say goodbye to my 15 year old Lhasa, but I know it's inevitable. A new pup will alleviate your grief a bit, but it will never take the plave of the lost one. But it definitely helps taking your mind of your loss.

Bob,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Your picture of Shelby is beautiful and the love in her eyes tells me everything I need to know about her, and you.
She was a beautiful girl and obviously lived a beautiful life.
The pain of losing our babies is so intense but it does get better with time. They always live in our hearts and I believe she's waiting at the rainbow bridge for you, same as my departed babies are.
Meanwhile, go throw the ball for Luke! He'll make you smile and he probably needs a smile himself.
Via Con Dios Shelby...............

I AM VERY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS....She was a beautiful girl!!!

I don't know if you've ever read the following story, but I had saved it because I thought it expressed so well the way I believe it will be.

BTW... Luke is certainly a handsome guy!!

...we're so sorry to read about your recent loss...our pets are such good and loyal 'friends', it's way to difficult to deal with their passing.

Please know you're not alone in your grief...we all here feel some too...
