Fellow Nomads,
Our niece is fighting cancer (she had a brain tumor removed last week) any prayers you might want to say on her behalf would be greatly
appreciated.
Her name is Elika . She lives with her husband Rich and three children ( Leo, age 10, Gus, age 4, and Daphne, age 2) in the Washington D.C. area.
Saludos mis Amigos, Tortuga

God Bless You, Elika

Your smile says it all.
You are surrounded by loving family members and friends lending you strength.
I give you my prayers, as well.

Tortuga,
Let her know a good friend of mine had stage 4 brain cancer and was given between 3-10 months to live after they removed most of the tumor because
they could only remove 95% of it safely. That was 3 years ago and he's still fighting it.
His doctors are amazed and credit it to both his "no quit" attitude and especially his positive outlook. He has become the most positive person I
know.
Elika's smile looks very positive. Keep fighting it Elika.

Tortuga,
I will be sending lots of positive energy to your nice.
Thanks to newer treatments, cancer patients enjoy much better survival rates these days but that does not take away from the emotional and
psychological burden that this diagnosis brings with it. I volunteer for a nonprofit organization called "Healing Odyssey" that helps women cancer
survivors cope with the life altering effects of this diagnosis via a three-day retreat in the beautiful Malibu mountains. Many of our participants
have stated that this experience has changed their life. Please feel free to U2U me if you want to find out more about the organization. This is a
unique program and we have had participants from all over the country, of all ages and all types of diagnosis.

I too believe positive thoughts have power...and I am going through a cancer crisis of my own..The stress level for myself and family is terrible.
But it must be worse for Elika's family because she is such a young woman..
My heart goes out to them ..and as I shed tears ...I can truly say I understand how they are feeling ..
baja-spirit - 8-15-2008 at 07:01 AM
God Bless and she will be in my prayers.
