We bought a Telcel phone last winter and paid for one year's service. We were told by friends that if we didn't use it for a few months, we might
lose the phone number.
So...we went to Seattle and added more minutes, thinking this would keep it activated.
Baja friends em'd today saying our phone number was out of service. We are going to mainland Mexico and then Baja in October. Does anybody know how
to re-activate this? The place in Seattle only sold minutes and knew nothing about the service.
Since this plan will be up for renewal in March, is there a better way to go? Landline not possible...AT&T not an option as it doesn't work in
our home in the States...Verizon is what we currently have but doesn't work for us in Baja. We have Skype for long distance but want Baja locals to
be able to reach us easily...same w/ family in the US. Any input appreciated..

Just get the Telcel card phones and you will save money and not have that problem.Phil C - 8-17-2008 at 08:22 PM
You'll have to go into a Tellcell dealer and buy a card and reactivate it . They may have to call and help you. Mine lapsed by several months a couple
of times but was always able to be reactivated, we didn't lose the number, had it about eight years.gnukid - 8-17-2008 at 09:39 PM

Sounds like a pay as you go? If so, as soon as you arrive in Mexico get a card and add the minutes, the phone will auto-reactiviate and usually you
will get left over minutes unless too much has passed. You may also try to go to the telcel amigo web site and enter your number and see if you can
get any info?Diver - 8-17-2008 at 10:15 PM
We had to buy a new "sim" card to reactivate our Telcel phone last fall.
Cost $10 plus whatever minutes you want to buy,
You will need to find a Telcel service center as most places that just sell time cards don't know how to do this.
And don't add any more minutes until it's reactivated as they will likely be lost.
