Hi all,

I'm sure theres lots of place in San Diego, but do any places sell 15-25kw Diesel gens in Ensenada??
We are looking to avoid importation hassles, of course of much better deals are a "otro lado" then......

I'm thinking something like this unit:

I will be interested in what you end up doing on this. Not that I need one that large, but possibly a 8-10KW.

That is an impressive 25KW generator..........

Quieter than the little gas powered Honda 2 KW EU2000!

Please keep us informed.

no its not...all generators are loud

but it is a GREAT machine
my neighor has one
just like that wo the wheels
runs great

we have a 25k from central maine diesel in maine usa
http://www.centralmainediesel.com/
kabota engine

importation is VERY easy and shipping to your place easier
ours was $11.5k they made it to order

think about getting a bigger fuel tank
i had a 75 gallon tank installed on the bottom
most tanks are very small

do you really need the wheels
i thought so too...at first
now im glad i didn't get the trailer

Perhaps email Antonio (Baja Cactus)... his Pemex has a back up generator.

info AT bajacactus.com

He just emailed me today about our concern after the other Pemex owner was kidnapped/ killed...

Bob,

The manufacturer's specs for the MQ rated it at 56 DBs at full load, and the honda at 58 DB. That is what I was referring to.

Ken

Edited for spelling

i just looked at the specs...
and they are at the same distance too...

my neighbor has one of these BIG DOGS and
the honda eu2000 is 50 times quiteter...

Hi Bob & Susan,

You said importation was easy, did you just drive across the border with it and take care of paperwork on the spot or did you use a broker?

I think one with wheels would just have its use getting it here to the sierra, but after you can take the hitch off to dissuade theft.
We have a little Honda 2000eu its amazing a 32hp diesel is actually quieter than that!

THANKS

Mike

Bruce:

Thats good news you like your unit! Also good news they are available in Ensenada, I will ask around but any idea which tienda?
I put in an e-mail to MQ power perhaps they can steer me there.

cheers

mike

here is the answer...

have the unit built to YOUR specs at
http://www.centralmainediesel.com/
this is an example company...

have it all set up to autostart an inverter
they know all about this stuff

give them a call or email them

no tax as you are buying the thing for mexico AND you are in another state

have them ship it to the broker and supply him the orginal sales receipt
oh yea...i'd contact him FIRST...

figure about 22% tax and import fees for the whole deal to get it across

shipping to your place will be about $5-600 or less
you'll be suprised

the broker will import it AND arange the shipping by truck to your door

you'll just need to have something to get it off the truck when it arrives...
it's heavy
we used a tractor with a couple of "pallet teeth" on the loader

get the BIGGEST tank for fuel you can get...
filling the thing is ALWAYS a pain...and stinky

you unit you are looking at has a 45 gallon tank
that will last you only about 4 days until empty
the unit should use about 1/2 a gallon of diesel an hour at 1/2 load
you NEVER want to let a diesel run dry

the trailer will get you into trouble...
you dont want that much current "movin" around
these things are pretty dangerous

also no one will steal a "bolted down" HEAVY diesel generator
and it IS heavy
