Redwood lumber - TJ to Ensenada

I want to buy some redwood lumber for an outdoor deck. Anybody know where I can get some? None at the Rosarito Home Depot.

Lots of substitutes like Trex that will last a lot longer than redwood these days--the famed trees are mostly now cut after around 30-40 years of growth yielding very watery lumber and not containing the lignins, saponins, etc. which used to make it such durable stuff.

Trex has more than its fair share of problems. Lots of issues with thermal expansion/contraction and evidently some UV fading. I've heard of mold issues with some synthetic decking (not sure if it was Trex specifically or not).

My biggest thing against any of the plastic decking out there is that it gets too darn hot to stand on in my bare feet, and that is completely unacceptable.

Thanks for the Trex info but I want redwood, especially for the railings, and I think synthetic decking may be even harder to find in Mex.

More and more lumber is making its way into baja, but I haven't seen any redwood yet. There's plenty in San Diego and it's probably cheaper, but it would be a lot more convenient to buy it close to the house.

I've seen redwood at ACE in TJ. I didn't price it but I have priced walnut, oak, etc. and trust me....

You won't like the price.

You won't even like half the price.

Get it in the States and smuggle it across.

There's a JR Redwood on Main Street in Chula Vista- west of the 805.
