Dish Network 110º Satellite Signal Loss

NOTE: If you're not running a dual-dish system on Dish Network, the following probably does not apply to you.

I'd like to hear from any other 'Nomadders in Baja California Sur who are running dual dish systems to see if you are still getting any channels from the 110º. These would be the HD channels, and channels 111, 115, 119, 121, 151, etc.

If you know how to access your signal level (Menu, 6, 1, 1), would be interested in knowing your transponder levels on the 110º. Also would like to know what dish size you're using.

Apparently, EchoStar 11 was launched July 16 and reached the 110 slot on August 21. Although I thought it was supposed to be a backup, they must have already gone online with it. Oops!

Here in LB using a 6 footer, transponders 7 and 15 are at 11 on the new meter. Seems 7 carries quite a bit of my HD. Not sure if going back to the 8 footer would help, took it down for hurricane season..Looks like they are switching over to the new bird, bad news for us, seems like a replay of the DTV of yesterday. They have just been braging about picking up lots of new subscribers last year, guess they did not realize they were the flock of people from Mexico that lost the DTV service.

I was planning on keeping my dish Network sytem in the US with one TV in US and the HD box going to La Paz- paying for both services and installing the 2 meter dish- so no pirating but just delivering the HD service in La Paz--None of my boxes are phone connected as I don't buy any of the movies or special events-- I would appreciate any updates on this situation as I love my college football and the music programs on dish network?????? Thanks-- Norm

The signal from the 110 satellite in BCS is gone and it's probably not coming back.

The main Dish Network 119 satellite is up and running, tho, and you will receive it in La Paz on a single dish system 4' or larger. No HD on the 119 satellite. Your HD receiver will display SD.

Note: Your receiver may need to be reconfigured when you move it from your US dish to your La Paz dish.

I have a dish 1000 and 722 receiver. I am in San Diego and don't understand the statement about satellite 110. I just checked mine and have the following signal strength:

Sat 110 spotbeam 27 = 30.
Sat 110 Transponder 11 = 43

Sat 119 Transponder 11 = 50
Sat 129 Transponder 11 = 22

I am receiving all the channels mentioned at the beginning of this thread 111, 115, etc in HD in addition to all the HD channels in the 94xx range.

Sorry, maybe I didn't make myself clear at the start. I'm referring to Baja California Sur, not the US. You are 1,000 miles north of us. If you look at the map at the top of this post, the 110 signal cuts off completely somewhere south of Guerrero Negro.

After reading this, I noted that the satellites listed in the 110 slot are NOW Echostar 10, 11 rather than 8, 10.

MR Bill - what does that mean with regard to those of us who may want to pick up the Dish Network HD previously carried on the 110??

That ANY programming transferred from Echostar 8 to Echostar 11 (HD or otherwise) would be affected by the fact that E11 has a different transmission footprint (as shown) which rules out areas to the South previously received from E8.
