Are you trying to commit suicide by police? Spelling police?

DENNIS - 9-7-2008 at 07:52 AM

Aw c'mon, Jorge. Twenty five percent of a sentence misspelled isn't bad for this place.

David K - 9-7-2008 at 08:48 AM

Of the three types of: their/there/they're, he tried to pick the right one by using two of the three! The wrong two, but like a good Nomad he tried!

Now, if we can only get Nomads to spell Baja places correctly!

Like these:

MALARRIMO

LOS BARRILES

GUERRERO NEGRO

PUERTECITOS

SANTA ROSALILLITA

ALFONSINA'S

The 1930's AAA map has it listed as San Quentin...

DENNIS - 9-7-2008 at 11:00 AM

Ah yes...We did this a while back, so:

Lemme have a couple of beers and I'll be back with more.

Good shot, decope. Their coloring is cool.

What do you mean, Newbie? He's been around here for five years.
No slack for the ol'timer and no spelling mistakes for you, boolie. Maybe next time.

That's funny; I can read it no problem and without any beer !

I still can't understand most of Bruce's posts, though.

I'm sure glad he didn't put this up last night. There's no way I could have handeled it.

shari - 9-8-2008 at 08:00 AM

Our new newbie buds here didn't post for a long time for fear of insults etc. and his first post the spelling cops jumped on him so he's wary now...can we just please leave the spelling alone?????? It is very detrimental to the site IMHO.

language

Osprey - 9-8-2008 at 08:09 AM

Shari, when your newbie Nomad friends show up at your house do you not correct them for referring to you as their Omego? Not a good idea to encourage members to dumb down communication --- the language is all we've got.

[Edited on 9-8-2008 by Osprey]

Ken Bondy - 9-8-2008 at 08:39 AM

I agree with Osprey. I think it is a mistake to condone the misuse of the language. That's how we got to this point. If it is done with courtesy, correcting language mistakes can be valuable. ++Ken++

PS about a year ago I gave a PowerPoint presentation to a group of Latin American engineers. In it I misspelled the name of the country "Colombia" as "Columbia". I was corrected gently, courteously and with some good humor. While I was embarrassed briefly, I very much appreciated the correction and I will never again misspell the name of Colombia.
