By the confusing traffic circle in TJ.
When I returned from my mini-trip last week I took a peek at the S. Y. crossing to see if I wanted to try it. As usual I did not. So I attempted to
make my way to the Otay crossing.
I got stuck circling around for about a half hour before finally figuring out how to get to Otay past the TJ airport.
I'll be there in the morning and would like to know the easiest way to get from Playas to Otay.

Follow the signs to airport. David K - 9-7-2008 at 09:26 AM
There is no easy way for us gringos! LOL
However, if you follow the signs for the Aeropuerto, then Garita Otay that is how I have done it from downtown... From Playas, get on the highway that
loops around the south side of Tijuana...
Seriously though, Otay is rarely better than San Ysidro anymore, I think.
Get Ferna's advice...

There isn't one. cinco y diez is not shorter. Maybe taking Libramiento Oriente south to the free road into TJ until you cross thru the circle with
the indian will line you up for the road to the airport. Probably no better than taking 2nd street (1-D) across town and connecting with Heroes only
to cross the river and catch Padre Kino to the Airport sign.JaraHurd - 9-7-2008 at 09:39 AM
Those circles frustrate me. I believe there are two of them. And those orange signs aren't much better either when going southbound from the border. I
guess I need more practice.fishbuck - 9-7-2008 at 10:38 AM
Oh ya, I got lots of practice alright!
I did follow the sighns and think I coulddo it again on the 1st try this time.
But I saw a sign for Tecate that doesn't get as close to downtown. Hwy 2 I think. Is there a way to take that and cut over to Otay?
Otay might not be quicker but I just like it better. Only took about 30-45min. Last Sunday at about noon. San Ysidro looked like a nightmare. Muy

Hwy. 2 does cross over the Blvd. 2000, which you could take north to Hwy. 2-D, then go west about 5 miles to the Otay entrance street.fdt - 9-7-2008 at 03:42 PM

Okay, I was kidnapped again briefly by red "do not enter" tape and huffy traffic cops. But I escaped pretty quick this time and got on the right
track.
Paseo De Heros to the Indian(2nd) traffic circle. And just follow the signs to the airport. There isn't a sign pointing out the crossing but you can
see it if you've been there before. Just take a left a few miles after the airport.
45 minutes across the gate.
San Ysidro was rediculously backed-up. Don't even try
it.
