It looks like whatever I had, the flu, the gripa, major stress-induced chest pains - they went away. My treadmill stress test I took on Monday was a
success. No chest pains, and my heart held a 150 bpm load with no problems. Normally, I ride my bicycle 8 miles daily, and this made my stress test
a breeze.
Thanks for your kind words and prayers. I really appreciate your positivity while I dealt with the "unknown" those couple of weeks.Diver - 9-9-2008 at 05:21 PM
Glad to hear all's well !
Maybe acid reflux ??
I get chest pains frequently that resemble heart pain.
Things like caffine, alchohol, greasy foods etc make it much worse.
It came on fairly suddenly a few years ago.
Ask your doc if you need a round of Prilosec.Hook - 9-9-2008 at 05:21 PM
Maybe it was all them dames in your life...........or am I confusing you with Fishbuck. LOL!
Glad things are going good again, Ken. My Jeep unlimited is now spending it's life in Sonora, Mexico. I'll be forming a Jeep club in the fall.

Glad you're still on the right side of the dirt, Ken.
Dr. Diver may be on to something here. Acid Reflux. I got it one time from taking too much Naproxin/Alleve for arthritis. When it came on, I
thought I was dying. Pain was excruciating and I almost blacked out. I layed off Naproxin and the Reflujo went away. I came across the connection
on the Net.

I brought back BAGS AND BAGS of Colombian Coffee, and I was drinking up to 6 cups per day. Acid Reflux may have been a definite contributor to the
kind of chest pains that had me worried about my health. I have been taking Alka Seltzer, I cut out all caffeine, and I hope to begin exercising
again once the Doctor and I have a "sit down" on Friday morning.Bruce R Leech - 9-9-2008 at 05:38 PM

Thank you. Baja Grande '08 will be so special, because I didn't think I would make it this year.Diver - 9-9-2008 at 05:54 PM
A 2 week round of Prilosec can't hurt; especially if you feel the need for Alka Seltzer.
Prilosec will take about 4 days to tone things down.
But I'd carry some Tums; try eating 3 or 4 if you get the pain again and see if it goes away.Paulina - 9-9-2008 at 06:00 PM
Great news Ken!!!
To your continued good health!

Good for you Ken... although a case of malaria was more interesting than a caffine overdose!
Baja Grande here you go!Mulegena - 9-9-2008 at 10:17 PM
Glad to hear you're on the uptake... really happy... and did you say Columbian coffee--- oooohh, yummy!Alan - 9-9-2008 at 10:23 PM
I'm close enough to Riv if you need to get rid of what's left of that coffee! Happy to hear it wasn't serious.
Hang in there Ken...you are the man!!!

Ok, glad you are feeling better but get some damn good bug spray to use when in areas of possible infection. The eating right thing is still good
advise for all of us, as well as good drinking habits like trying not to spill any. We are definately going to link up some time soon in Baja for some cold ones Ken. Later-------------------- bajafun777Skipjack Joe - 9-10-2008 at 05:52 AM
It's good to hear that it appears to be nothing serious. Still it would be better to be certain about the cause of your symptoms. You know what it's
not but not what it is.
It's hard for them to figure it out after the fact. It's like a mechanic trying to diagnose your car when it's running right at the shop.lingililingili - 9-10-2008 at 09:45 AM
Love the good news! Glad to hear you are feeling better.fishbuck - 9-10-2008 at 10:01 AM
Ha ha Ken!!! That was a good one. You gave us all a scare but it's funny now that you are ok.
Get all healthy so you can give me some 4x4 lessons!!!toneart - 9-10-2008 at 10:47 AM
Ken,
This is good news!
Of course, you had a serious scare, and I encourage you to keep testing and get the doctors to reach a consensus.
Now, please consider my next paragraph as irresponsible frivolity:
I told you so!
In your first string on this topic, I told you it was nothing but a big f*rt trying to escape. So, lay off the frijoles for awhile and you will be
just fine. Get that jeep back into Baja and let it bounce you around. That'll get it out. If you don't mind though, I probably won't ask to be your
passenger for that next trip.Ken Cooke - 9-10-2008 at 05:56 PM
6 cups a day of this stuff nearly did me in! I brought back 12 bags of it, plus, I have 4 bags of vanilla and 5 or 6 bags of Mocca in the fridge -
all sealed up and fresh.
I also brought back a full liter of Ron Medellin - Rum from the MOST DANGEROUS CITY ON EARTH!
I haven't had a drink since I returned from Colombia & celebrated my 40th (in July). I quit eating butter, eggs, and whatever else will
contribute to my high cholesterol. Last year during Baja Grande, I had shell fish & ceviche DAILY. This year is going to be tough, but I'd
rather live a good life than have to return to the emergency room in 10 years due to blood clots.

Glad to hear you're okay--maybe we'll see you off the beaten path in Baja someday (eh, when I get to move back from Texas...).David K - 9-10-2008 at 07:26 PM
Ken, bring that rum down here so we can sip it while watching Dust to Glory and the Baja Flo movies (I have all three)! We have guest room, so no
drinking and driving required...

That sounds like a plan. But, what will I drink during Baja Grande??? David K - 9-10-2008 at 07:46 PM
PACIFICO Y NADA MAS!Ken Cooke - 9-10-2008 at 07:49 PM
I do have my Cafe Liqueur from the Peruvian Amazon to drink...Maybe a case of SOL would round things up nicely...bajaboolie - 9-10-2008 at 08:17 PM
Good work...a lot of people just gripe about needing to live healthier, and you are actually doing it.
Oh, and happy 40th! I celebrated mine in August. Neal Johns - 9-10-2008 at 09:42 PM
40? Ken?
I'm not going to Baja anymore with you! They will get me for suspicion of child molesting!

You had us worried, quit that!Skipjack Joe - 9-11-2008 at 01:08 PM

Now that's interesting!
I haven't given my age in halves since I was about 12. Back then it was to convince my friends that I was MORE than 12.
But now we're at the other end of the spectrum. The reasons for fractions have changed. Perhaps rounding down to the nearest decade would be good too.

Muchas Gracias, amigo. Tomorrow morning, I am visiting with my doctor, and hopefully, I can discard half of these new meds I began taking a few weeks
ago. After only 5 pushups, I became dizzy and unable to focus for over an hour. How is junk like that supposed to help a person lower their weight,
and risk for a heart attack over the long term? Argh!
