longlegsinlapaz - 9-10-2008 at 11:31 AM

Good to hear!!! Now the real adventures begin!;)

bajaguy - 9-10-2008 at 11:35 AM

please tell us how you managd to get it across......

Bob and Susan - 9-10-2008 at 11:35 AM

tell us the story of how you got it there...

the nightmare!

dianaji - 9-10-2008 at 11:51 AM

how long can the message be? it was unbelievable and i will NEVER have a mobile home brought to mexico again...especially by the transporter that i had the misfortune to use. actually, i had to do his job...since he got the money and then turned it all over to me and a man who is now helping put it together...it's a double wide.

diana

BajaGeoff - 9-10-2008 at 12:47 PM

Glad you finally got it down there Diana! Once it is put together and you are settled you will forget about how hard it was and enjoy the view of La Mision!

805gregg - 9-10-2008 at 01:13 PM

How did you get permits so fast?

it was not fast!

dianaji - 9-10-2008 at 01:19 PM

it took a month to get it there...the transporter did the import papers and that was the end of it after he got $$...then it was grief, pain and anger. anyway, like when having a baby, one forgets the pain after it's all over...

diana

Bob and Susan - 9-10-2008 at 01:24 PM

you have the knowledge to tell us exacty what you did to get it across

this is interesting

dianaji - 9-10-2008 at 01:36 PM

i had a transporter. they know what to do... it is costly. what i had to do is meet the drivers at the storage yard in otay, (this was not my job), it was the transporter's) i was there at 3:00 in the morning and it was not even at the correct place...so we finally found the place it was located. we finally got it to la mision around 5:30 in the morning.

Diana,
My dear, you're turning this in a teeth pulling saga.
Located it where? Then, to get it to where you were going... you did what ??...put it in the trunk of your car or a pick up bed ?? Come on... tell us the story with some particulars and don't leave us in suspense.

Bruce R Leech - 9-10-2008 at 03:20 PM

there are 2 company's here in Ensenada that will do the whole thing for you at low cost. they do it every day. they buy used Mobile homes in the USA and import them here ware they refurbish them. then they sell them and deliver and set them up with permits and all.

Bob and Susan - 9-10-2008 at 03:21 PM

otay crossing isn't open at 3am
how did you cross it

the never ending saga

dianaji - 9-10-2008 at 03:21 PM

all i wanted to do is share my joy in getting my mobile home from ramona, ca to la mision. i had no intentions of arousing curiosity further...

i hired a transporter to do this job. it was hauled by 2 trucks and for a month, it took many excuses as to why it was not happening. u ended up getting ripped off, as many promises were made and not delivered. i do not know what to say...so, i can only answer questions to the best of my ability. i am happy to answer/fulfill any curiosity.

and please share my joy. i deserve it.

diana

Bruce R Leech - 9-10-2008 at 03:25 PM

Enjoy your Mobil home

David K - 9-10-2008 at 03:29 PM

Details are what is appreciated...

Diana, there is no limit as to how much you can type in the message box here on Nomad. While we really appreciate you taking the time to share with us your 'adventure', it is frustrating that you have to be asked so many follow up questions... Please provide the details (who, what, when, where, why)... pretty please!

Bruce, look back at dianaji's previous posts seeking help for how to get a mobile home to La Mision from the US. Too bad for diana that you missed them...

I am curious as to how long it will take her to become a legal resident (FM-3) and to legally have personal property in Mexico.

Please don't get angry at us Diana, we want to help and also learn from your experiences!;D:light:

two trucks, a pickup, my car, a mini van, all of us drove from the otay holding station where they store the mobile homes. perhaps it is not called otay crossing, but it was in otay on the mexican side.

i swear!

that's my story and i'm sticking to it. i don't make up stories.

diana

i am in the process of getting the fm3

i am taking all necessary steps.

thank u,

David K - 9-10-2008 at 03:40 PM

Bob, Otay has been a 24 hour border for awhile now... Tecate isn't.

DENNIS - 9-10-2008 at 04:15 PM

We need details. You came here looking for help and were given plenty of it. We got involved in your dilema and did our best. Don't leave us hanging on who did what. You had a bad experience with an importer and I believe you should give us the benefit of your knowledge by forewarning us for future dealings with the irreputible company. That's the "give and take" of the site.
Don't you agree?

Bruce R Leech - 9-10-2008 at 04:46 PM

It sounds to me like she did pretty good for Mexico. she got it imported and crossed and got to her location in less than 24 hours. I once slept in my truck for 3 days and nights to import irrigation equipment.

lizard lips - 9-10-2008 at 04:57 PM

Diana,

How much did it cost? I know you were moving it to La Mission from north county San Diego.

Do you still need your furniture moved down?

That's because you look like one of the Arellano brothers in a straw hat.:lol::lol:
Just kiddin', Bruce.

dianaji - 9-10-2008 at 05:13 PM

it cost $3500, plus heartache, hours, days, weeks of phone calls, plus so much more. it was an ordeal and i am exhausted. thank u bruce for your kind words. oh, and btw, the awning is still not there. the transport company took it out of the mobile home, saying ti would be confiscated, and he still has it...along with the keys.

iizeard lips, yes, i still need my furniture moved...however, i still have my mobile home to sell, before that happens. i have one good source to contact when it's time.

Bob and Susan - 9-10-2008 at 05:28 PM

david i think you can drive across but NOT import stuff ...

importing is done during regular business hours

you cant just drive a mobile home across like a travel trailer

vandenberg - 9-10-2008 at 05:38 PM

We need inspector Clousseau on this case.:lol:

The important thing is that she got it here. Let her get it set up, arrange furniture and make the beds before we hammer her toohard with questions.

Congratulations Diana - you deserve it! Invite us down for a martini and I'll bring the gin!

amir - 9-10-2008 at 07:46 PM

Hey, Dianaji, what you did is amazing! Your dream came true!!!
You got your mobile home across the border and all for ONLY 3 and 1/2 thousand dollars?? That is wonderful!
I am so sorry that the whole ordeal was so painful; look at it as an initiation. You passed the test! You had a vision, you had determination, you had faith, and you completed your mission. You did what many have only wished they had the strength to do. You endured and survived the pain. You won't have to do it again, so you can relax now and go on with the business of settling in your new life.
I am not privvy to the particulars in your life situation, but my heart goes out for you for all the stress that you have gone through.
Please forgive these curious Nomads, they can't believe you just accomplished a great feat and they want to know the details, that's all...

David K - 9-10-2008 at 07:48 PM

What amir says is true!!:yes::yes::o:o:o

thanks for the support!

yes, i had a vision. it took enormous strength and conviction. i would be happy to share all that i would go thru and being community minded, i will always help anyone who has to go thru so much to have their dream realized. i just got back to the states yesterday and i am still recuperating from all that i went thru.

the details would take pages.

and thank u, i now feel supported and inspired.

A deck on stilts?
A palapita?
You have thought a lot about your dream, haven't you?
It all sounds wonderful, I hope some day you will also manifest that. It also sounds like quite an adventure and an interesting story. Have you ever thought of writing down the story of your move, like your memoirs? You sound like you have a wonderful heart, and are very kind with your words; I'm sure that you could fill whole notebooks, not just a few pages, with your thoughts. You should do it! Your grandchildren and their descendants will appreciate it.
And feed these hungry Nomads little bits of information. They drool when they hear from people that love Baja like you do. Take your time. Tell your story in bits and pieces...

... and keep on dreaming - that is the power of creation...

$3500 is all? to get a presidential double wide moved and set up? that is chicken feed cheap. i wouldn't beeyatch one i otah about that even if i had to run the flag leader or chase truck.

Bruse - i would KILL to get a nice double wide wobbly box of torado bait set up in baja someplace. man, instant palapa ville!
i will like to talk to you some time about that service in ensenada.

bajaguy - 9-11-2008 at 03:53 PM

i bought it from a private seller. no complaints there...i am very happy with it. however, as i said, i would never import one again. there are homes in mexico...i was told that the ones from the states were in better condition.

bajaguy - 9-11-2008 at 04:20 PM

Yeah, I have seen the ones at the dealers in Rosarito and Ensenada....you are correct. Did you even look at a dealer in the US???

dianaji - 9-11-2008 at 04:26 PM

no, there was no need. as i said, i love what i have...the only problem was the ordeal and endless suffering, with the transporter.

We have a refurbished double wide that we bought over here. It's in good shape and we have had very few problems with it so far. Plus the price was right.

That may be your initiation to Mexico. You handled it well and it's all Baja Fun from here. Bienvenidos

dianaji - 9-11-2008 at 05:09 PM

yes, and now to learn spanish, and learn patience....not one of my virtues. perhaps that is what i have to learn in baja!

amir - 9-11-2008 at 05:34 PM

That is it, dianaji:

P A T I E N C E ! ! !

If anything, Baja teaches you patience.
"No hurry, no worry" a poet said.
Things will happen when they need to.
Just relax in grace, breathe deep, it will all come to you.
Let go of the past; you made it this far. Visualize the next part of your dream.

Have fun!

DENNIS - 9-11-2008 at 05:36 PM

yes, everyone u meet has its purpose. it's all good...nothing is done TO u, it's done FOR u, even tho it doesn't seem so at the time.

amir, u r wise and having u in my life has a great purpose...calming.

805gregg - 9-11-2008 at 09:37 PM

I ment how did you get building permits so fast. You did get permits to put that on your land?

amir - 9-11-2008 at 10:12 PM

CALM is good, dianaji. The stress of the move got you very agitated. I'm glad you captured my intent.

You write few words, and some of those even abbreviated, but they have power. You have the gift to visualize things AND words.
Your succint sentence:
"yes, everyone u meet has its purpose. it's all good...nothing is done TO u, it's done FOR u, even tho it doesn't seem so at the time"

is a perfect example of your repressed erudition that I am encouraging you to practice. Write as fast as you can what comes to your mind, use shorthand if you want, and don't worry about grammar or spelling. You'd be surprised at what comes out! Try it.
If this excites you, or if you just want to try it out more privately away from the sight of peeping lurking Nomads, sent it to me in a U2U. Would LOVE to hear (read) the thoughts you weave as you unwind and recollect your recent days...
