Gecko Homeowners Association

Santiago - 9-17-2008 at 02:28 PM

I've recently received a missive from the newly formed Gecko Homeowners Association that they agree with mi esposa: THE PINK MUST GO. I'm asking for input here.

And just to be clear, it's Italiano Rose, not pink.

HOA's suck. Tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine.......oh wait, they agree with your wife? HOA's are great, so glad they are around to save others from their poorly thought out mistakes, re-paint before they fine you and/or ban you for life.

Personally in the desert more color is better and in a few years it will fade to 'salmon'.

I think the yellow should go. The brighter the better.

Yeah, what EGL said.

Salmon is gooood.

The red is fine but that blue is tooo weird !!
Salmon is good too; I like bright colors on Baja houses.

On general principals, I would like to say screw the HOA.
They are one of the reasons that we LEAVE the US !!

Now that you mention it, I think the two posts in front would look fantastic painted like the Fruit Stripe Gum zebra.

Embrace your individuality!

The casa must be a good source of HDL and Omega 3 fatty acids.

Italian Rose-- goes with a good Spagetti Boulonaise, right?

house colors

Seriously, your house will look bigger and less fragmented with a continuum of color.

Perhaps do the wall in the earth tone and blue for the accent entry posts and stairway?

Have fun, lots of fun!

HOA? News to me...........I agree that that is one of the things we are trying to escape from, but, I would agree to some simple concideration, like keep our yards free of junk (with the understanding that while construction is going on that isn't always possible) and when some special occasion is happening and we would like to use fireworks we let our neighbors know to we can get our pets in or ourselves out.......

I like to see color (hate those "communites" in Ca that all he house are the same colors) Besides, isn't that pink in your kitchen, inside you casa? That would be your biz........I would agree the the Mrs. there though!

Debra - 9-19-2008 at 11:35 AM

I have a unique problem with my casa since I'm connected to my neighbor.......they don't like my colors (I'm not sure I do either) so we are trying to figure out what would look good and I'm glad they talked to me. Always try to be a good neighbor.........makes life easy for everyone!

we refer to them as "bird cages".

Debra - 9-19-2008 at 12:52 PM

I hear ya......and agree

As I said though, since we are attached it can look pretty funky to US BOTH to go wayyyyy off'.

I wasn't thrilled with their paint choices at first, but, after the finished product I did come to like it (I'm talking the front, water side) they didn't come to me and say that they had a problem with my paint job, I mentioned to him FIRST, that it looked really nice and told him I had had my doubts when I saw the paint colors in the can, but, that it really looked nice. It was then that we started to discuss our unique situation, then he did offer to get and do the painting, on my front. I like the "Color" the thing is our middle space, figuring out what will make it look good, we haven't gotten tehre yet as they had to leave, The front 'WE' talked and agreed......again, good neighbors

Worst case of monotonous community I've ever seen was flying into Albuquerque, NM, looking out the plane window at about a million houses all painted the same beige. I'll bet their Home Depot doesn't even have a paint department.

I'm, of course, just having a little fun about the HOA comments. Yu-all know that, right?
I tried to get some kind of color scheme going via the internet but was not successful. These colors came from Behr's website under 'International Color Palettes'. They had 2 for Mexico and this was the most colorful. I liked the colors but when the pink was going on I pretty much knew what 'she-who-must-be-obeyed' (Rumpole) was gonna say. Back to the tienda de pintura.

I'd vote for the mural.

Soulpatch, I like that idea, thanks.
