Planning a longer stay in No. Baja
6-12 mo. With the talk of Mex Imm
using computer tech, has anyone
ever heard of someone being denied,
or questioned about getting more
than 1- 180 day Fmt during the same
12 mo. period? I may be wrong or making mtns.
out of mole hills, but remember
reading something to the effect
that the fmt is not for temp residents,
and 1 cannot use fmt's back to back
thanks for your time

Unless there are recent changes, you can leave Mexico for a day, then return and get another FMT.CaboRon - 9-22-2008 at 11:57 AM

When I drive back the FMT's are not collected so I have a collection of them, if you have one turn it over and look at the upper right hand corner, if
you do not have one this is what it says:
WARNINGS
TOURIST
Valid only for 180 days, without possibility of renewal, starting at the day of entrance.
Will not be authorized to preform lucrative or remunerable activities.
Will be authorized to request an extension until completing 180 days of stay.
So my understanding of the document is on the day 181 to can go to the immigration/aduana office and request an extension. Weather you get 180 more
days or have to pay a fee i do not know nor does it state it on the FMT, hope this helps...Rickbajalou - 9-22-2008 at 02:27 PM
Believe you can requests extensions if the FMT is for less than 180 days - 60 or 90 etc. but you will NOT get a extension beyond 180 days from entry.David K - 9-22-2008 at 09:37 PM
Yah, if you want to stay longer than 6 mos. they will know you are no longer on a vacation! (ie. no longer a tourist)woody with a view - 9-23-2008 at 08:09 AM
instead of leaving, i would think you could just appear at GNegro or in the north TJ or Ens and pretend you are there for the first time to request a
FMT. forget about the words extension and renewal.
