Okay, David K et al, here's another one to ponder......where is it?
David K - 5-12-2004 at 07:11 AM
I don't think I have ever seen this place... any hints?
Mexitron - 5-12-2004 at 08:06 AM
Hint #1: Northern Baja
Mexitron - 5-12-2004 at 08:10 AM
Hint #2: Elevation about 1200'...on a road in an area that was opened up by the government for ranching in the late 1980's.....

This is a "secret" surf spot and its true location can never be disclosed.....
I Know I Know

Hint #3
The rock ring is exactly 50 m in diameter,
Hint #4
It is not a surfing spot.

Of course you know--you were there with me Baja Taco!! I have a feeling no one else on this board has been up there.....kind of outta the way,
although lots of people have been to a nearby visita and a Rancho with lots of water. And if you keep driving on the road, which crosses the Rio San
Juan Del Dios initially, you will reach the palisades and see the gulf!
That's enough hints!

Okay....this corral is located on a road bulldozed in the late 80's for cattlemen and has a small tinaja next to it....to get there drive past Rancho
Metate and climb up the gnarly Huatmote Mesa road...follow the road for about 15 miles and you reach the corral. I haven't been up there since
Hurricane Nora, and the other chubascos recently, so I don't know if the road has washed out in the arroyo crossings. If you go another 2 hours past
the corral you reach the southern end of Mesa Avion and you can drive to the edge of the palisades to get a view of the gulf.....very desolate country
up there but awesome if that's what you like. Sorry, no GPS were taken....
Great spot

Looks like a great spot to me Mexitron. And the idea of going to the east edge(SE) of Mesa Avion sounds like a great journey. The corral looks very
much like the one in El Parral except there it's not on flat ground.
Thanks for the trip (mentaly)
I like these "Where is this" posts - keep them up.
