It would be easy enough to bring some from the states, but it would be easier to explain to cops or soldiers if it was packaged in Spanish and had a
receipt. I did some online searches, and apparently it is not illegal in Mexico - yet anyway. I have no idea where they would sell it in Baja. Perhaps
some kind of record store that deals with techno and hardcore would have it, but I don't know where that kind of store would be. Any help would be

Believe it or not I found it in 4" pots at Home Depot gardening center a year or two ago. Apparently some one was not paying attention.
Maybe one of the Baja Home Depots may have it, too.
Or find someone who's growing it and take a cutting. And remember, unlike many salvias, this one loves to be watered.
And hey, when you find it.... enjoy.

There is Datura, Damiana, Gypson Weed growing along the roadsides now. It is the low-growing green leafy plant with pretty white trumpet flowers.
That is an hallucinogenic, I believe, but toxic! "Dangerous" the herb id books say.

Nope, not the same plant. Perhaps what's growing by the side of the road, but not Salvia Divinorum.

I didn't see the documentary. Is it available online? Probably everything they said is true except maybe for the facts that it is non-addicting,
non-toxic (except for the smoke), and nobody has overdosed on it (in the traditional use of the word). Apparently, there is one death attributed to
it, and it happened several months after the experience much like Judas Priest caused the suicide of that one kid. But anything else extremely radical
said about it is likely to be true. To be truthful, it is actually a very intense but largely unpleasant experience that appeals mainly to those who
want to find out just how far down the rabbit hole goes - for those on some type of vision quest. It's just too hard core for most. I really just
wanted to know where I could get some in Baja.

Erowid is by far the most informative site out there for research into psychoactive compounds.
Ethnobotany has always been one of my interests, I have tried a tincture of salvia and it was very interesting, smoking 15X's 20X's extracts can be
overwhelming, often with intense body distortions like being pushed through a membrane into another world! Of course our society has always had a
preocupation with concentrated active ingredients, hence our "problems" with heroin and coke. Native use has always been with the low dosage plant
product ie coca leaf, opium. Native shamans use a "quid" of salvia leaves rolled into a cigar which they chew for a long time. oral use like this
means onset is slow and managable.
I don't think this plant grows in Baja, I always thought it was a tropical plant of the interior of Mexico.

I smoked it once (the leaves, not the extract) and chewed some leaves, which are extremely bitter. Made me feel like my body had grown long, tall,
gangly like a too-fast growing teenage boy.... and yes, I definitely felt I'd morphed into an early adolescent male. It was interesting but nothing I'd try for again.
Walking and balance were a bit difficult until I got used to the 'new body' feeling. And then after about 1/2 hour it was all over and I felt just
like me again.
I have a neighbor who tucks a leaf into the side of his cheek and kinda chews it off and on all day long. He's an unusual and quiet person, but not
all weird or anything.
