The butterflies are migrating through Berkeley right now - and boy! is it a wondrous sight. Lots of Monarchs and the Painted Lady variety (American
Lady, Western Lady).
I have a 15-foot tall Mexican Dahlia as well as lots of butterfly bushes in the front. Been attracting huge numbers of butterflies all this week.
This morning as I was trying to trim out the deadheads on the dahlia, butterflies kept landing on me. They'd spend some time exploring me, then flit
over to one of the red and yellow blooms. They tickle.
Anyhoo, those of you south of Berkeley should be seeing them in a day or two.... 'tis said rain is headed our way, and they'll be leaving ahead of it.
