FMT Copy Needed

LianeR - 10-3-2008 at 08:20 PM

We are flying my parents to Loreto in November. They are in their 80's and haven't flown out of the US before. One has dimentia and I know the FMT form and it's Spanish will really throw them. I've searched the Mexican consulate sight, but have been unable to locate a copy of the FMT form. Had hoped to get a copy and send it to them and show them how to fill it out..but can't find it anywhere.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Liane

Liane----They will give your parents an FMT on board the plane. The migra in Loreto is very friendly and will help them if no one on the plane can't. I am not sure but they may even be in english now. No worries.

Hi Liane,

Check out http://www.discoverbaja.com/services/fmt.html.

Also, try calling the Discover Baja Club ( the link listed above) Yes, to use their services for insurance and the FMT, you do need to join the club---not expensive--about $30.00 and maybe they could help.

Also, google Pictue of Mexican FMT and there is one there---

We just wish that our Baja place was near a major airport so we could fly her down. Her last visit to Baja Sur was the first year the highway was completed.

Good Luck

Diane

Dont waste your money getting an FMT thru any outlet, as the airlines charge you for the FMT in the purchase of the ticket. No way around it that I've ever heard.

Ask the airline bringing them on the travel leg out of states for senior assistance, explain easily confused/dementia or whatever & ask to have flight attendants watch out for/help them in general & specifically with completing their FMTs. Make sure they each have their passports on them & easily accessible.

Flying to Mexico, I've twice seen illiterate Mexicans have passengers help them will out of the form. The people were very helpful.

At this link, FMT there is a picture of the FMT---

Only the top part needs to be completed, and as others said, I am sure someone on the plane will help.

A bit off topic, but FM3 and FM2 holders can get a refund from the airline:

Liane,

I assume you know that any FMT form copy that you find online can only be used as a model for your parents guidance. As others have said, the actual FMT will be given to them onboard the plane. They are numbered and tracked.

It is vital that they both have current passports with them.

The airline personnel will most certainly help them fill them out. They do it for several people on each flight. The airline is responsible for them to be in order upon arrival.

Will you be at the Loreto airport to meet them? Perhaps the airline ground personnel will be able to get you through immigration to be there as soon as they enter the terminal. (I don't know this for sure, but it is worth a try). If they can't get you in there, they would probably be able to personally assist them if you alert them.

Don't worry!

Que vie bien sus padres.

Saludos,
Tony

Flight attendants help with fmt's almost every flight. There are also personnel on the ground to help out. No problem there.
Fmt's are not tracked.

As far back as I can remember, they have always been in English and Spanish... See the link in jdtrotter's post.
